It was all going so well. I was training my pokemon in preparation for Falkner's Gym. Rock is such a champ, taking all the hits like a pro. With his help I caught two more pokemon. There was a Pidgey on route 31 that I caught and named Chicken. I was even able to venture onto route 32 and catch a Ratatta named Jerry. It was all going so well...

Rock was able to take on so many pokemon from route 31, that I thought there was no harm in giving Jerry a few shots so she could level up faster. But I was wrong. She was taken down by a fellow Ratatta, destroyed by a critical hit quick attack. I couldn't do anything. It was my first experience with a death. I was horrified by my negligence. I hadn't even been paying much attention at the time. I took down the enemy ratatta, but while I was doing so a horde that I can only assume was it's pack dragged away Jerry's carcass. I could've sworn I saw then sneak a few nibbles and I can only assume what will happen to her. But she is dead, and there is nothing I can do but to let her slip back into nature.

Professor elm never told me of the horrors that a pokemon adventure could bring. I want to go home. I don't want to do this anymore. ... But I can't give up. In Jerry's memory, I must take out Falkner, just as we were training to do. I must succeed. For Jerry... R.I.P. Jerry...
