FWA 2014 OVER - feedback for Fursuit Lounge

With FWA 2014 over, it's that time to get some feedback for me. As Fursuit Lounge coordinator, with the awesome help from 
November, Kiyo, Jack, 
MaloWolf, and Manick, I'd like to get some feedback.
Improvements this year:
-Fursuit Repair Kit
-Clocks in the fursuit lounge
-Mirror
-Sanitary wipes for the head fan
-Full time Gatorade stations
-Constant Towel supply
We also were trying to manage the two lounges during really busy times as best as possible. During the fursuit parade, we were handing out towels, filling the jugs with ice cold water and trying to clean up as best as possible.
Challenges:
-The main fursuit lounge on 7th floor didn't have adequate cooling (IMO) and we bugged hotel staff several times about this.
-After 10PM, hotel staff was almost non-existent, so water replenishment periods got spaced out possibly too far, clean towels were not always available.
-Lounge was on floor 7, last year it was on floor 6 as you came in from Peachtree St. This was moved because people off the street were sneaking into the lounge
-Did not always have 100% monitoring of the fursuit lounge during the day, so sometimes room got disorganized.
-Ran out of fursuit straws, will need to replenish supply for next year.
Overall, I got a lot of thanks and praise, which makes me feel very good about the job we did. :)
Are there comments that you have, both negative and positive about the lounges? Any improvements we can do moving forward to 2015? Thanks very much!

having the fursuit repair kit was super handy. and probably one of the most important things for this year. cause i know i had to help sew up a rip on my friends fursuit cause having rips or tears during interactions with people or kids isn't fun. and i liked the gatorade station alot. cause that way people had more than 1 choice what they wanted to keep hydrated^^

Awesome, I'm glad it got used. That was one of the suggestions given last year that I thought was a necessity! I think it included everything needed for repairs, and it will be something that can be used for years to come. :)

I was unable to attend FWA, but I praise your efforts for stepping into the breech to work what is essentially a job where you only get attention when something goes wrong! We have such an opening for you at

I don't have any complaints about the lounge at all, it was great! There were plenty of fans & racks space. I will say the towels being handed out after the parade was a nice unexpected surprise. Also the water was always ice cold. I know that's a tiny thing to be complementing but every time we went in there it was like OMG THIS HITS THE SPOT! haha, great job!

About ten years ago I suggested clocks in the headless lounge at MFF as well as a large print list of fursuit related events so anyone in there would know when the fursuit games were for example, but no one has ever done it to my knowledge. At least you have the clock.

Ya know, actually I requested that, and I heard there were signs being printed for that very purpose... well the signs were just signs leading to the fursuit lounge :P And this year was chaotic anyway for programming. But next year, hopefully!

I was impressed with the headless lounge. I felt safe enough to leave my fursuit box there since I wasn't rooming at the hotel during the daytime. Kudos for keeping witht he hydration and awesome selection of cooling equipment.

Awesome! I never recommend that, but as long as you deemed it safe :) In general, 99% of people are respectful of others stuff! :)

As nice as ice cold water is for the fursuiters, It is actually more disorienting, and can cause people to go into shock. If they are dehydrated, it's best to give room temperature water.

I've heard that too.. but we haven't had anyone pass out from the shock of cold water. Yes, it can be a bit harsh to the body. Our gatorade was typically warmer... not cold cold, just cool.
