quite some time ago, I created a tutorial for HTML: Website Creation In Plain English. It's outdated now, so I'm posting it for free, with plans to update it to HTML5.

If I were you, I would wait till HTML 5 is 100% ripe. It still risks of having major changes. Besides, browsers does not support them completely. For instance, the canvas 2D engine does not give the same result when executing the same code... and so on and so forth.
