I went through an HIV scare not too long ago, even though I myself used a condom. I got tested as soon as possible.

If you go right away, depending on whether the doctors feel whatever you did was risky enough, they could give you anti-retroviral drugs which could stave off infection; but that can only be done within the first 72 hours.

HIV is a very difficult virus to get compared to something like Influenza, Tuberculosis or Malaria. It can only be transmitted via blood, semen, vaginal fluids or breast milk, and even then there's no guarantee you'd get it.

If the man had a cut on his penis and you gave him a blowjob, and there was a cut in your mouth, your risk of infection would be a bit higher through that method... if not you'd have to drink gallons of semen. Our saliva has an enzyme which incapacitates the virus.

And I should also point out that AIDS is not the same as HIV. HIV is the virus that leads to AIDS. A person is said to have AIDS when his or her CD4 count drops below 200 or when he or she has certain infections or cancers. A person can have HIV for years without having AIDS. Having HIV does not mean you have AIDS.

The fact you used a condom means it is rather unlikely you got it. But as long as you get tested ASAP and are more careful in the future, you should be all right, hon. *hugs*
