Anime Bet (What Have I Gotten Myself Into....)

Hey, all! Just a little update on something that happened not ten minutes ago. So, my awesome cousin calls me every Monday and we talk for a couple hours about random things. Family, life, food, anime, manga, etc. This is focusing on the last two. Recently, I was coerced into watching the highly-acclaimed anime Puella Magi (or Mahou Shoujo) Madoka Magica. I was against it at first from the magical girl look, but with how much my friends raved about it and how much more they knew than me about anime, I gave the 12-episode series a shot. And....HOLY FUCK WAS I WRONG. Not going to spoil it, but it's another MLP effect. You go into it expecting one thing, and get something COMPLETELY different out of it. In this case, instead of girls worrying about boys and fighting cute monsters, we got girls worrying about the end of the world and fighting witches that could legitimately kill them....no, seriously, a lot of death goes on in these 12 episodes. It's an insanely good series and I suggest anyone with a strong stomach and a desire for something different to look it up on YouTube and watch it.
Now, we get to the call. You see, after telling the title my cousin looked at some images on Google Images. And most of them are of nothing but the main characters in magical girl form. And from that he assumed it was just that. But I tried telling him otherwise but he didn't believe me. So, I made an offer. If he swore to sit down and watch all 12 episodes, then I'd do something for him. He decided to go with having me read two manga of his choice. The results were Bitter Virgin, which according to him is a feels-driven depression manga, and Kimi Kiss, a more cuter romantic manga. If you didn't know this by now, I do NOT like feels-driven or romance manga or anime. But I promised him this, and now we have until the end of the month...however, knowing him, I had to have a contingency plan. That's where the latter part of the title comes in. If I fail to complete both manga series by the 28th of April, then I swore to read the entirety of....

Yes. Gantz. Easily one of the most fucked-up, gore-filled, fucked-up sex-filled, vomit-inducing manga ever written. From beginning to end, I would read it if I did not hold up my end of the bargain. I think I chose weakly for mine. If he didn't finish it, he'd have to sit down and watch an entire season of Super Sentai, the japanese predecessor to Power Rangers. And he liked Power Rangers as a kid! Mind you he has a dislike for the childish manga and anime nowadays, but come on! He could easily slip into a nostalgia run and end up liking his punishment! Not asking for help, nor am I asking for spoilers. I will hold up the end of the bargain myself. Just thought I'd talk about this for fun. Anyway, I have class tomorrow, so this is it for tonight!
