2D tools

Now as much as I like 3D development, I have hit a major snag: unless I get Unity Pro, lights will go through walls. This reminds me of a 3D game engine I got as a birthday gift when I was about 12. While that engine was fun, I couldn’t help but feel bothered when lights went through walls…and experiencing that problem again makes it feel like I’m being dragged back into the early 21st century.
Now I’ve gotten a chance to try out the 2D tools. I’ve barely gotten anywhere, but it didn’t take me too long to figure out the basics. It’s not too different from the 3D interface.
So here’s what I’m thinking. After I finish Agent K, I have another idea I’d like to try out…
You’ve all heard of Tetris, right?
Originally an NES / Game boy game, it has been remade to death, and always in the same format.
Well world, how about something different? I’m tired of seeing the pieces rotate on right angles and staying within their 16×16 tile grids. How about THIS:
The pieces rotate slowly, maybe in 5 degree increments, and the pieces move 2 or 3 pixels at a time (give or take, given the screen stretching)
We could even make the stages different!
I may bring concept art to the table later, but for now I’d like to get back to work on Agent K.

Also since it's close enough to midnight, this was actually an April Fools day joke. I think it's not a very good idea for a game and the proposal was kinda a joke. xD
