My Awesome 25th Birthday: Why Dreams Come True by StarryAqua
11 years ago
First of all, thank you to all of you that wished me a very happy birthday yesterday. Lots of love. <3
This was definitely one of my best birthdays. Getting to spend time with the family, going to The Cheesecake Factory, bowling, had a really great time. It definitely would have felt like an average day for me, otherwise. Curse the horror that is aging!
I didn't ask for anything because I'm not the type to ask. Ironically me not asking for anything is how I end up with a new laptop or iPad or some other expensive item. We're definitely in a bigger budget crisis then ever before so I definitely didn't expect anything this year. But, low and behold, my mom got me something. Something very remarkable. It was...
An application.
I already know that I need to find a job (and soon) but trust me when I say this isn't your standard job application. In fact, it doesn't relate to a job at all. It was a PBA application. For those of you that don't know what the PBA is, just check out their main site.

Joining the PBA Tour has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Bowling among the best in the world, participating in major tournaments and possibly earning titles, as well as getting cash, it was a dream that always felt out of my reach due to money constraints and a sense of focusing on other things (like job and school) instead of potentially wasting time and just taking a big risk making my dream a reality.
I wasn't the best at keeping a schedule in my past. And I've also been the victim of procrastination as well as being a tad lazy at times. Now that I'm pushing forward with my life, trying to do anything I can to support myself and those around me, and now that I have better understanding of fitting everything into a schedule, you can probably understand how this feels like a major accomplishment in itself.
Of course I'm gonna start off small. Start off with some regional tournaments, a major tournament here and there, before going all guns blazing and just emptying my pockets entering any tournament I can. Like I said, I've learned better, and a job is required to participate in everything anyway.
However, I'd still like to point out that all of this isn't even guaranteed yet. The PBA still have to authorize the application and deem me worthy enough to join. I don't mean to be cocky or bias but I do feel I qualify immensely; my shouting at bowlers on TV on how I've been doing that since the age of 12 may support that. But all of this is mainly a bonus over a major point...
Of course it's my life, I can essentially do what I want, and I could have joined earlier when I reached 18 if I felt like it. And believe me, I felt like doing it. A lot. But I held back. I know what's important. Sometimes you have to keep reality in check. I was the one that printed the application a while back, but it was my mom that was the one that handed it to me, telling me to make the dream come true. That's not being selfish. That's being responsible and it rewarding you in the long run.
Basically, never give up on your hopes and dreams. You're never too old. Anything is possible.
I also got some new jeans. I definitely needed some. Such an excellent birthday. :3
