Well, technically male, but in a traditionally female gender role... but, being a bird, there's not much in the way of external suggestion as to that anyway, apart from, perhaps, plumage... and in this case, I don't really think there is a difference between them in any case :) there's a small description in the description of the second image, which describes the situation, if you want :)

It's because I draw the face and eyes varying on the gender, even a feminine male will still have male features in them. ^^;

Also, a question, is him chubby? The costume wearer is a bit on the curvy side and I can't see very well the character's body in the second drawing. @.@

Ah, no, the character isn't chubby *giggles* I am working on mine too, so I can portray him better when in costume ;) (which, oddly, seems to be working - slow bit steady progress :) )
