It's pretty damn easy if you start out in "I'm too young to die!"
Of course, if you're playing on DosBox, you can run setup.exe to change the controls to something you're more used to. I changed movement to WASD and turning left and right to the arrow keys...q to fire, e to use items, and z and x to scroll through weapons (similar for what I did for Descent)
