Unfortunately no. These are one of the cases you'll have to consider the money lost and instead use it to avoid a reoccurring incident.
Both seller and buyer must carry an equal risk of losing money whenever a business transaction occurs.

Personally I prefer this system:
- If it's a very large project: Buyer must pay a deposit before you start. The prices of a sketch might be a good start.
- Smaller project were buyer only needs to OK the sketch before final product: Just skip the deposit.
- Before the buyer must pay final amount you can either a send the sketch or send a very watermarked final product.
- Upon having paid full amount, the buyer gets the finished product.

If the buyer tries to run away, then at worst the buyer will have a heavily watermarked picture for the price of a sketch, or a free sketch.
You could even make it known that heavily watermarked pictures from you never are finished products.
Eg. "Not finished product. Properties of Felixcani". Try posting a picture with that on an art site.
Your loss should be reduce enough to be sustainable.
