Well, yeah, obviously there are times when you say "Aww, those two would be really cute together!" and they then end up together. But there's a big difference between that and writing fanfiction about them. XD XD

I've sadly come across that, no joke. There's a few youtubers I'm big fans of, who happen to be friends IRL. Some of their other fans like to ship them and write REALLY explicit fanfic. Thankfully as they're comedians, they just take it jokingly and have even riffed/rp'd some of them at convention shows, etc. :D

I don't get how it's OK to ship characters created by real people or played by real actors but it's not OK to do it with real people. THe odds are pretty good they're JUST as creeped out by people shipping the characters they've created or portray as they would be if you were shipping them. You're still taking something someone has an emotional investment in, and using it to get your jollies.

If you don't mean any harm by it there's no issue carry on. If your intentions are to cause harm, stop it. Simple as that.

because believe it or not people aren't characters you can just draw fucking each other or having kids or whatever tf like, it's plain creepy i'd be furious if i was a youtuber and had a decent sized following and they decided to start drawing me naked or coming up with headcanons of me/my life like, there's a line
not to say you're not allowed to think people are attractive or that they'd be a cute couple, but to publish it on the internet where these REAL people can find it is just super fuckin creepy and uncomfortable
it should be obvious why shipping fictional characters is different from shipping real human beings capable of seeing your art/stories/headcanons y'know??

I remember back in the 70's and early 80's when people wrote Star Trek themed slash fiction. It's the same thing. People do it all the time. It's imaginary. It's not like people are going out molesting people in person. Most people who are in popular shows know that it comes with the territory.

also it's pretty dismissive to say 'well if you're gonna be an actor u better be ready for people to draw/manip/write porn of you' like, don't make the person on the receiving end of gross porn of themselves the one in the wrong here
i don't know what part of this is confusing, i mean i hope it's clear that i totally support shipping whatever fictional characters u want as long as the creator is okay with that (obviously you don't want to go shipping your fursona and somebody elses around here you know??) but there's nothing wrong with doing that stuff with characters

Look, it's not my thing. I'm not really all that into real people, anyways. It's gonna happen. People are going to do it. As long as they're 1)not shoving it in the real peoples faces 2)respecting those peoples partners/friends etc 3)understand the difference between fantasy & reality I don't see a reason to hate on people or call them 'creepy'.
