This has been building up for a while, and was not sparked by any one post, comment, or journal, its the accumulation and my boiling point.

Really don’t want to rant but I feel some people think they are OWED something from the artists on this site to never change and not stray from what they want to view, and that’s FUCKED UP.

I am putting my two cents in on this growing “piss n moan” fest I have seen forming over the past few months over Fem- anything art from certain artists and the drama their watchers are making. I believe that some of this dislike is also stemming from underlying feelings on gender, but that’s a rant for next year.

This particularly seems to be stemming from mostly gay FA members
(and I love you guys, so don’t you dare call me a basher for that remark <B )
and a few heteros who are getting upset that they cannot get the fap-on without screening through some art they never thought the person was capable of or would ever draw.
This is not a Gay Site, it is not a Straight Site, it is a FURRY SITE, its for everyone, and no one is guaranteed to draw THE SAME THING FOREVER.
TO THE BITCHERS:
People/Furs these artist don’t cater to you, don’t you get it? They draw what they want, and what they feel they want to express, that’s why they are here and not somewhere else.
Okay so they drew stuff you liked for a long time, and that’s fine, but they ain’t your mommy, daddy, your lover, your secret special other, THEY DON’T OWE YOU SHIT, and you should know you are privileged to view all this work for free, from any of them.
TO THE ARTISTS:
(The ones being persecuted, not the above bitchers)
Keep on drawing what you want, when you want HOW YOU FUCKING WANT. You should be drawing because you like it, and you damn sure shouldn’t be apologizing if you change it up. (Change is a law of nature) If watchers care anything for the person behind the paint brush, pencil, pen, clay, or tablet then they should know that you do it for you, yourself, and then them in that order.
Apparent Trouble Areas/ AKA Source of Aggro:
Women in Art/ OMG its tits:
Okay you don’t like the naked female body? Cootie factor? That’s fine. But don’t get mad or feel betrayed by an artist who’s drawn beef for a while now makes the attempt to draw some art with a not all male cast! And don’t complain in their comments, they worked just as hard to draw those boobs as they did that dick.
Not Manly Enough/ not-enough-hair-on-chest-syndrome:
So a person you watch now draws some Effeminate Male art, you don’t like it? Its like bleach on your brain? Don’t fave it! And if you don’t like the fact that FA’s ad space is full of promotions for Femboy comics GO MAKE A COMIC AND BUY SOME ADD SPACE! (I would probably buy a copy =3 )
This fandom is big enough for beef AND turkey.
Grab Bag Effect or the OH- Noes:
Don’t like Hermaphrodite art? Love those tits but think its ungodly to have the sausage? Don’t look at it. But know it’s a legit art form based around a true occurrence in nature/humans but if you are so against it don’t look, what’s the worse it will do, kill that chubby in your pants? Oy vey.
IN CLOSING:
I like FA because it has everything (with in the law) for all people to enjoy, its accepting, open-minded (at least in theory)
This site takes all these different artists and gives them all a platform for their art, and the opportunity to improve and grow which includes a change in fashion.
So either as a watcher, or a stalker we are freely consuming the art that others have made (unless commissioned) and we have no right to criticize artists for changing it up and expanding.

With that said, I agree whole heartedly. I still just can't fathom a community that revolves around naked animal people being as closed minded and down right insulting to some of its artist. As a female I'm been insulted and belittled my share of times. Its really sad.....down right pathetic...
This fandom like many others, still has much growing up to do, i plan to be here long enough to see it.

I'm glad I came across this. I'm familiar with the various related threads of drama elsewhere, and I honestly don't know what's wrong with a few of the fine folks in my particular gendersexual subunit.
I think some of the current raving can be traced back to some leftover resentment at the over-the-top freakout over the FA Thanksgiving banner, and some of the nastier trolling a number of artists have recently had to deal with.
Plus, don't be too quick to attribute overt complaining about femme imagery to some deep-seated gender dysfunction, that's unfair. Most of the current drama comes down to individual tastes and we all know (as you mentioned above yourself) that this works both (or in FAs case, many) ways.
Everyone also complains that their particular interest is under attack at the expense of all others' interests. I've seen more hostility to femme content recently, true, but it still falls way short of 'yo faggot why do you always hafta draw that gay shit' levels.
Or does it? My viewpoint's no more objective than anyone else's.
That said, well it's FA, where new fetishes are conceived on an hourly basis. It's ironic seeing who have been complaining, as most of them have rather esoteric tastes which certainly couldn't be serviced anywhere else.
I mean really, are they going to pack up and run off to DiscriminArt with its roving bands of art-Talibans bulk-reporting on queer content? If they don't ever want to see tits ever again there's always y!Gallery, but, oops, no furries, no herms, and shitloads of fembois.
FurAffinity's strength is the (almost) no-holds-barred variety of imagery, mature and not, that the site allows from some amazingly gifted artists and many of the rest of us mere mortals as well.
I will say, FA would do well by many people of all possible flavas if they put in a search/filter system half as useful as y!Gallery's, and not only to satisfy the narrow interests of some people, but to address some real concerns almost everyone has about content.
Yes, some people only want their favorite artists to do only male or only het or only, um, badgers whatever, but I have favorite artists that I don't watch because they occasionally post art even I find offensive, like 'cub' or 'non-con' imagery.
And a lot of people on here would prefer to see no overt sexual content at all, which means FA has to get a bit more responsive in enforcing the filters it does have. (Not too responsive, obviously, or then they might as well be DA or y!G.)
Anyway, I am in full agreement with your advice to both Bitchers and Artists.
Personally speaking as a non-fur who came to FA following some really good artists exiled from elsewhere, I have since broadened my appreciation of what constitutes erotica quite a lot, and I am constantly surprised by the level of talent (and okay, weirdness) on this sprawling site. I couldn't have imagined any of this just a dozen years ago, and I'm as glad to have this site to visit as I was when e-Groups or Napster first came out. Hopefully FA will be around much longer than they were. And it's all free!

My bit about the gender thing wasn't really a gab about the Femboy issue, that was part was from experiences of myself and many others with a number of furs who show immediate disposal of artists, who draw what they like, but then find out the artists gender then tune out.
I can see why some guys (and it seems like it would definitely be more of a guy thing - I could be wrong) might do that, if they are using favorite artwork as a guide to find potential RL mates with similar interests.
Hmm that is an odd situation. You wouldn't expect for example a straight guy to look you up after checking out your (BTW very kool) male erotica. But a lesbian gal who posted hot female art would be freakin' bombarded by straight guys. Nobody's happy. But gay guys drawing gay erotica for gay guys...
So what happens if one draws hermaphrodites, then? Umm...

Anyway, if that's the case it's kinda rude. I'd be curious to find out when this happens, and the relationship to the artist's gender and type of art. Might be an interesting experiment...
I actually find it kind of sad to use an art site to find potential love interests, but it happens. Ah well that's just my personal view.

I think that an artist that draws for art and not a fan base will understand that the most important person is yourself. You can't do much good if you're not doing good, yet you should not impose on others well being to achieve such being.
I was once told I should post in Myspace rather than here because I draw people instead of furs.
