 countramsely has the same problem. His art is awesome and cheap, but nobody really bites when he's open.

I've come to realize that is has to do with watchers. The more watchers you have the more commissions you will get. And the best way to get watchers is to produce art regularly and promote yourself everywhere you can. I started helping Ramsely with that a few months ago and he's slowly getting more and more commissions.

Getting an FA ad is EXTREMELY helpful. FA ads gave gotten me 300+ new watchers in the one month my ad was up and it's only $20. Promote your art on the FurAffinity Forums (be sure to read the rules though, they're extremely anal about them!), Teenycom on Livejournal, and list slots via auction on Furbuy. When you upload new art, put a little 'Commissions are currently open! -Link to commission prices-' in your description.

Offering free art every once in a while can also bring a lot of attention to your gallery. Make an actual IMAGE submission offering free art and don't put it in your scraps. That way it's on the main page. Then just pick someone and doodle something quick for them. Very little effort and you bring a lot of attention to your gallery as well as gain new watchers.

Basically, just get your art out there. Post your commissions anywhere you can and keep up with it. If you create a forum thread be sure to visit every seven days to post new examples. When your teenycom post gets moved off the page, submit a new one. Relist your auctions when they end.

Wow thanks a lot pal and yeah that's why I keep deleting and resubmitting my price sheets every couple of days so it's on the front pages. It's sad when my boyfriend asks to commission me because he knows how much it means to me. Thanks so much for the feedback.

You're welcome! I remember trying to sell fullbody sketches for $2 and nobody ever wanted them. It was such a crappy feeling. But I pretty much kept doing what I mentioned in my last comment and just worked hard to build up watchers. I used to do a lot of free art things which got my gallery a lot of attention. That and trying out new techniques and constantly trying to improve. It takes a while to build up that watcher list, but with some hard work you'll eventually be getting regular commissions! :)

I suggest you advertise more -- do free doodles for people that promote you via journals and post on places like Teenycom like I suggested a while back.

Do not lower your prices any more than they already are. In fact, I think they deserve to be upped given how much time (and supplies, given that you work traditionally) you put into them.
If you try to make them cheaper I will come to Idaho myself and smack you upside the head.

I would suggest continue to draw whether you are getting paid or not keep posting new stuff. Let people see what you are capable of as you improve.
