My computer exploded.

Probably soon to be main account ~~~~~>
Tiel <~~~~~~ I'd always expected a pop but that was a proper:kaboom but yes... sadly it went out with a bang. (I was really getting into a picture too >_< ) I had hoped it might have survived until I moved house but oh well it survived 6 years without upgrades or replacement parts. Means im offline while.
I know how to put parts together but no idea what cards are better then others @-@ and had to happen right before a bank holiday weekend didn't it? >-<

Sorry ya lost it, glad yer not hurt, and good luck gettin a new one~
That bang came 99% from a capacitor, so check wheehr you see a capacitor with a broken cap or some bulging capacitors! Then you know the source of the problem.
Wha's your budget though? for 250-350 bucks would be a normal work PC. For 600-800 you'd get a proper Gaming PC :)
If not, that should work well. Sadly I have no clue about british shops and especially mainboards are usually different there.
But try to get an Intel i5 4440 with a matching socket 1150 Mainboard. Preferably with USB 3.0.
Don't get yourself sold a CPU with K at the end (because that means its for overclocking and that costs lot more) and a i7 is also overpowered and expensive.
You don't need a network card since those are integrated in any mainboard nowadays.
As a PSU, you shouldn't chose the cheapest one! Again I don't know the brands in GB, but try to get a "beQuiet!", or a Seasonic. Enermax or Cooler master are okey too. Just don't get a noname or something like Lc Power... Those are crap...
about 400-500w will suffice easily.
The intel i5 has an integrated graphics card which suffices for any office related stuff and for art too.
If you are wanting to play more complex games, you need a graphic card (GPU). Not sure, but think this one should barely match into your budget: A "R9 270X". There are lots of models of this GPU. Try to get one with two fans, not a single tiny one (because those are usually very loud).
I suggested a AMD graphic card because it has more power.
But as a CPU I'd still suggest an intel. Theoreticaly a FX 8320 has indeed some more power than an intel i5 4440. BUT, it reaches this power with 8 cores (in fact not entirely real cores - its a long story) and 8 threads, while the intel reaches slightly less power with 4 cores.
Fact is that Games and also most "normal" software profits a lot more from the singlecore power than it does from just more cores.
The only software type which is generally well parallelised, are things like Video encoding and physical/technical simulations...
AMD sadly is quite a couple of years behind Intel's technology. You can see that very well on the power consumption for example...
I wish Intel would finally have a serious competitor again in the mid-high end consumer market, but that's currently just not really the truth :/
By the way, I'm no fandboy at all - the last 4 years I was using an AMD Phenom II x4 965 and am just now at switching to an Intel Xeon e3 1230v3.
It's a big chart that suggests various parts based on what type and what general level of performance you're looking for, along with what you can expect for prices on those parts. It's also updated frequently, with the last update being about a week ago.
Unfortunately I replaced my fuse with a large solder melty (those blobs that you make into cool shapes by wasting tons of solder wire :U)
The bang was far bigger an hour later :D Now accompanied with a spray of molten lead throughout the machine!
