For this month's competition, I've decided to apply a rule from one of my actual college courses to test and see how good you guys are in camera.

This month's competition is straight out of the camera photography! This means NO photoshop, no manipulation, no color shifts, no contrast adjustments or anything. The image MUST be straight from the camera!

Rules:

- Photo must be done in camera with no photoshop or effects added
- Photo MUST be posted after this journal was created. So no searching through Furaffinity archives.
- Photo can NOT be manipulated in any way once it's out of camera
- In camera double exposures and light painting ARE acceptable since you technically aren't using Photoshop or anything.
- Once the shutter is pressed, no in camera editing can be done.
- NO CROPPING

Contest ends May 31st!!!

also, because it has to be re-sized anyways, can I shoot in RAW/Adobe RGB, load it into lightroom, and then export it with my size preset into JPEG/RGB without any other editing?

Yes, you get better results that way AND you also get to save more than just 10 images on your card compared to RAW images!

yes but RAW does look better and can be converted fairly easy even if you didn't edit

Soooo true! Maybe one of these days the technology manufacturers will do more science and give us memory cards that are above the gold standard of 8 megabytes. Think of the possibilities!

I don't know how Bill Gates would have ever not realized the future potential and need for much greater storage capability. I remember a time when some cameras had a floppy drive built in for saving pictures, like the Sony Mavica, and a later model of that camera came with a built-in mini CD burner.

I forgot to mention, my very first digital camera which I bought used back around 2000 had only about 8mb of internal memory, and that's it. It took 640x480 pictures and could store a max of 32 photos. Transfer was done through the serial port. And it was such a no-name brand camera, the one and only place the camera's actual manufacturer name was listed in the manual, it had been blacked out with a marker. I still have that camera, too! The better camera that replaced it ($100 grocery store camera) ended up being run through the blender in "Will It Blend?" at FCN a few years ago, because of its very disappointing performance as a convention snapshot camera. At least that one was able to take SD cards and had auto focus, which is when I spent the big dollar to get a 1 GB card (they were still very expensive back then).

Oh man, the first digital cameras for consumers sucked so damn hard ^^
The only old digital camera that I would want is the Nikon D1. That thing is awesome :3

well, E6 would not allow any editing, (unless you do the E6 process yourself)

but still there is the scanning afterward,

Yeah, I was talking about the scannig part. Often you have to change at least the white balance a little if your scanner isn't perfect of if you get your negatives on your PC in a different way. I like to use my DSLR for that for example, that worked pretty well.

I use my smartphone to get a bright white background, then I put the negative above it and make sure everything is even and straight, and then I take a shot of that with my camera^^ Then I crop and edit everything in Lightroom.
It's been a while since I did this though. But now I have an actual macro lens so the results should be even better.

Fivers point is for you yo show your composition skills.
So you know, great photos can be had out of a 2mpix camera with the worst optics, even pinhole. It is sll about how you use your gear.

(chuckle) Flowers are very popular for this contest. Easy one for me to submit for, if/when I get a photo to not come out blurry. I swear I got better photos with my old 35mm Instamatic then with my Polaroid iF045 digital. Straight off the memory card. Only edit was to give the file an easier to remember name than "img023". (chuckle)

Both were shot on Expired Kodak 400 MAX film with my Olympus OM-10. No editing was done.

BTW: You should put some kind of limit or number on the amount of photos to submit because as of right now I see it as post as many as you want. Unless that's the plan :P
