10 grand in the hole. fuck
well...Today I was sitting outside with Mom and she was like "I need to have a serious talk with you. You're 17, and in a year you'll be 18. Due to your hospital stays and health problems there's 10grand of debt that'll transfer to you when you become a legal adult. Dad and I don't want and aren't going to help you...It'll become your debt, and you'll have to get a job and pay it off". This just left me stunned. I understand they don't wish to pay it, but getting told your 10grand in the hole before you've even graduated high school is a big ass slap in the face. I don't even know the first thing about paying off debt, and my credit score will be shit, right? I don't know what to do. Im aware I will have student loans for college, but right now im just so unsure of anything. No one has taught me about financial matters and im unsure who will. Maybe this is just a rant journal cause im stressed and/or looking for advice.

Talk with your parents, ask to see the bills and look into it. While I hate to say it, talking with a lawyer may be needed to understand the laws in your particular state. If your parents still refuse, you may need to take it to court to settle the debt.
Be sure to weigh out your options careful.
If it was not.. then you may want to talk to your insurance provider about that, as minors are not supposed to be able to open their own insurance policy without the signed consent of an adult, again, putting the bills and care tell your 18 back to your parents.
