No clean feed!

Just doing my part to spread this around.

While this may seem to only concern Australia, I think it would be good for those outside to take a look too, perhaps even send an email. I don't want other countries to point to Australia's censored internet and say 'Look, they did it. Let's do that too.'

HA... good luck with that.
"Hey, I don't have to watch my kid when he goes online to make sure he isn't looking at porn or horrifying gore... Big Brother will do it FOR me!
Idiots.
so why not censor the evening news too, cause that's where the biggest problem is, with all it's insane coverage of school shooting a make little rejects and outcast think ''oh wow i could do that to then they would remeber me and feel bad for how they treated me''. then they blame video game, rock music, and violent movies, oh and the internet too. it's all the news and nothing more fucking fear mongering pricks
internet is not a problem it's a cure, it's a place where you can fine like minded people that share your odd quirks and actually make some friends. yeah it's got porn and gore, so do the movies in your dads closet under the old sweaters.
anyways sorry for responding to yours but you were the one that got me started :P, so thanks. i agree with you.
The trick is this- "everything in moderation." It's been proven time and again that too much of any one thing can and will be harmful. Hell... too much WATER will kill you. Potable drinking water. Wrap your mind around THAT one.
Semi-off-topic in my own journal, but that did make me sad.
But I digress... the point is, people need to put their foot down and teach their kids when enough is enough... instead, they expect society to do their parenting FOR them.
Australia is run by knee-jerk reactionaries.
The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Perhaps Australia should push for something similar to prevent such idiocy in the future...
"“When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”
When people are not vigilant, they lose their freedoms and liberties. They shrug and say, "oh well, it doesn't effect me, right?" Or they say, "well, as long as it keeps me safe..." Few people realize that once these sweeping bans start effecting things they love or enjoy, it'll be too late for them to stop it from happening. Airsoft is already illegal in Australia, and I know a few people who loved airsoft as a hobby. It never hurt anybody, but they banned it anyway. Just like laser pointers. But no one stepped up and said anything because it wasn't -their- hobby. But now that it's the internet, people will start to question whether or not their government has their best interest at heart. It's a pity though, because even if everyone is against it, they really can't stop them, can they?
Love is Hate,
Freedom is Tyranny" -Orson Wells 1984
In fact, the live feed thing started a while back. Bill Clinton, a democrat, said, "I think the American people have too many personal freedoms."
It's not about Democrats or Republicans. It's about who exactly is in office. JFK, a democrat said,
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable."
I love American history. I really do. It fascinates me to no end. Every decade to me is just so rich with it's own beautiful tapestry of history. Too many people limit what they know about America to, "BUSH BAD, NO BLOOD FOR OIL." Yes. America has a bloody history. But so did Rome and Greece. And archeologists to this day still are learning about them.
But I am segueing - As I said, it is not because of a conservative or liberal government. Both sides are capable of attempting to limit personal freedoms and liberties.
I mean, we have too much shoreline to defend against a conventional attack, and aren't crazy enough to actually consider using nukes... I think.
