Arggg... Moving again. (Where can we get free boxes?)

So it was very last minute and we're moving out by the end of this month. But here's the catch: Our lease is over May 31st, we can't move into the new place till June 10th at the latest :'D

Sooooo this is going to suck to say the least. All of our stuff has to go into storage for that time and we have to stay in an extended stay hotel.

So does anyone know the best place to get free boxes? I know a lot of stores break their boxes down which kinda sucks but do you know of any place that is good to ask? We're moving on a bit of a budget since it's pretty last minute.

Also, since I won't have my whole array of fursuit building stuff, I won't be able to really work on anything for that period of time so I'd like to take some water color badges (laminated and shipped) please spread the word! It would be greatly appreciated <3

Wendys has a lot. Go to gocery sotres early in the morn and ask them for boxes

If you ask, most grocery stores will be more than willing to give you free boxes for moving.
We'd always just end up recycling them anyways.

Call Publix ahead of time or go in and ask (Bakery has some awesome 1/2 sheet cake layer boxes that are great for storage) and we'll save them without breaking them down.

go early in the morning ask for the bannana boxes yes they have holes but if you put paper in the bottom its not that big of a deal

Retail stores. They're not constantly breaking down boxes. Where I work, we're too lazy if we're in a rush and a lot of the time, the boxes go down the chute still intact. It's worth a try, we certainly don't need them.

I actually have one a bit north of me :3

and I know some places break them down right but I've seen countless more use razor blades to slice them up :<

Even if they break down the boxes, you just need a strip of packing tape to put them back together~

When I was moving, I'd go around behind strip malls and see if they have dumpsters, where they dump their boxes after stocking shelves. But really, asking the manager of any large retail store will give a good chance at acquiring free boxes.

If you have a Walmart Supercenter, go in late at night when the overnight crew is unpacking. The boxes over in Housewares are great for packing (esp. the ones that the large sterilite containers arrive in). Sometimes if you call in advance, some managers will even save the boxes for you if you let them know when you'll be in.

You can always ask managers of local places. While the larger chain stores tend to get rid of their boxes as they use them, it never hurts to ask if you can help them 'dispose' of them (but they wouldn't say no if you told em what they were for I'm sure). Buying packing tape at the same time won't look suspicious at all.

Places like Sam's Club, BJ's, and Costo also sometimes have areas where they pile the boxes they no longer use for customers to take as they want, since they tend to not bad their items. Movie theaters also tend to go through medium/large boxes thanks to their stock items. And if there's one thing I know, it's movie theater managers hate how their dumpsters fill up with cardboard each week.

Grocery stores, especially the produce department, have sturdy boxes and are usually pretty willing to give them out. Also try stuff like gardening or home-improvement stores. They usually get an assortment of box sizes and might not break them down quite as fast as some places.

Try big department stores such as Sears or Target. Even if they don't have it the moment you get there, ask them if they can save you some for a few hours. If the employee is nice, they'll save some for you.
