I have 0 know how on the topic, but do people use a foam or a poly fill on legs? I would think soft foam would look the best but poly fill stuffing would the super easy to just jam in there.

Either or I think. I think most people have started doing poly fill maybe 'cause it might be easier to move in. Then there's people who make removable pillow padding so the suit's easier to wash...

Either way I have no idea how people magically do this and make it look good...

I cleaned the sofa earlier this week.. like took the cushion covers off the foam pads... and it went back together with some cussing and a vacuum bag trick.. maybe they use this sorta thing?
"To get the cushions back into the covers, put the cushions in a garbage bag. Use your vacuum cleaner hose and stick it into the plastic garbage. Gather it around the vacuum hose and hold tight. Turn on the vac. and it will suck the air out of the bag and squeeze the chushin smaller. Tie off the top of the bag so you don't loose the vacuum. Slip the covers back on, then after they are on, slip your hand into the cushion and tear out the plastic bag."

I'm just guessing the issue is they are lumpy? Ima show my friend this journal and maybe she can shed some light on the topic. :D

Give  rustywoof a shout. She's done plenty of digigrade legs so I'm sure she could explain how to go about it.

I just use matrices method and sew up some pillows to stuff them with...its worked pretty well for me
otherwise ive heard of people making their duct tape dummy, then modify/add to them using foam pads....but ive never tried it myself so i cant explain it much better then that OTL

I've tried to understand Matrice's tutorial. Most of her other ones are pretty straight forward. I dunno...the leg padding one I couldn't wrap my mind around. I got the whole make padded pillow thing. Other than that, when it comes to the way they're patterned and put in, I didn't understand that.

I started out with the foam pads this time around and modified my DTD around that. Now I can't figure out how to get the padding in the suit for some reason...T__T

Heya- I know you live in Illinois but not quite how far away you were but I wanted to offer anyway! I can show you/walk you through how keeatah and I do ours if you want to come up here one of these days. Were making 4 bodies this upcoming week before Acen so it would be a perfect time if you could stop on over while were all doing that (I can offer the guest bed if you want to stay for a day or two and work). We carve foam and make the pattern on top of everything when the carving is done. I live on the IL/WI border (an hour north of MFF/Acen).

Oh man, that's be so tempting! If you're an hour north of Rosemont then I'm probably about 2 hours away from you. I live about 45 minutes south...ish of there (directions are not my strong suit XD). I'd be taking the train since I (still) don't drive so I don't know how close or far you are from a station.

Not sure I'd be able to do it before Acen. Mainly due to my work schedule plus I have a few things other scheduled in the two days before Acen. Wednesday might be a day I could go up there. It's the only day I know for sure I have off of work.

If you get to Union Station in Chicago then take the North Central Service to Antioch it is literally walking distance from my place (we'd pick you up but still, super close!). If its not before Acen that's ok it just would had been more experience jam packed since we have so many to do ourselves haha XD

Yeah, I think most people use that tutorial. I dunno...maybe it's just me. I feel I'm missing something, but I just find it a little tough to follow, especially when it comes to patterning out the legs after the padding is made.

Do you mean creating the shape, or more how to hold the padding in place?

If the latter, I can tell you the best way I've found is sewing the padding onto a pair of spandex/armour under pants that's worn under the fur/bodysuit.

What I do is take the dtd, stuff it, carve foam shape on top of it.

Then get the tape pattern from that.
Remove the foam parts, tape pattern the foam parts separately.
And that will be your pillow case that you can then stuff. Will be the exact shape and size you need.

I also add a little velcro inside the suit and on the padding to keep it in the appropriate place, and also make it removable.

Hopefully some part of this answer was close to answering the question? heh.

I'll have to try that then. Wanted to finish the suit for next weekend but in order to make it work I'll leave it for later on. ^^;
