ok I have a question:
As you can expect I scan b&w traditional linework and then I color it digitally. Usually I've scanned it directly to photoshop in grayscale, then I've adjusted levels, converted to RGB and coloreing it.
However: I have now new LCD screen and in order to have color plette working right in photoshop, I have to use LG1952 color settings, instead photoshop RGB standard. And its ok. But not with greyscale. I simply have no greyscale ( my current greyscale looks now like sepiascale of some sort )
So now in order to scan an linework properly I have to scan it in full color mode, then convert it into indexed mode, then adjust levels, and finally convert to RGB...
My qustion is:
Do you know some good software for scanning b&w stuff?

You can check if your Adobe gamma (in control panel) is properly set for new monitor.
You can check your monitor color gamma (sepia grays may mean you have your monitor set to warm color (cold would make grays bluish) setting)
If it's none of those I'm baffled and dunno what you could try next.
it happened with my monitor too
using other brand settings will simple destroy photoshop's colors
example, all viewsonic G series, if used in photoshop ( the color settings ) will make REDS look 100% orange, doesnt matter what, and greytscale looks greenish.
only way to fix this is turning it off :/
no idea why photoshop does this
