Read IF you want FREE Requests to continue

Firstly, I wanted to say I'm sorry if this sounds petty or complaining, but I have to point this out...I'd be a lot more motivated to do more request if I had more support with it. I mean, I know I've been uploading a LOT of art, and I obviously don't expect anyone to comment or even view all or even most of it. But most of my uploads get 0 favs. And usually one person comments. Two or three if I'm really lucky.
It's really discouraging because I'm spending a LOT of time every single day to deliver this art for free and with the exception of 1 regular comment-er, I don't get anything. I don't mean to sound ungrateful for what I do get. But people kept telling me how great this community was and how supportive and friendly they are, yet I'm doing tons and tons of free stuff and Some of my best works get less than 5 favs, is this normal?
When I take requests, you know that EVERYONE gets something. Most people do raffles. Like hundreds of people write journals for them and they do three requests of their choosing. That's not even charity, they benefit as much as they give. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I feel bad doing that so I only want to do requests where everyone gets something but that means a lot of uploads. And if a lot of uploads means people don't bother to look at any of it, than that obviously means there's no reason I should do requests. People aren't even always happy or grateful for what I draw them which is discouraging too. And I do this to make people happy, it's a little backwards if I have to get a little down in the process.
I'm still going to do my chibi plush raffle, but that one is not free to enter. If things improve I will still do my other free requests after that but I didn't join fa to belch out tons of free art and get nothing out of it, I really was hoping for that community people talked about :( I'd love to get to know at least some of you guys

The problem is you have 57 watchers. On this website, comments and favorites don't seem to happen that much until about 100 watchers, and even then it's just lucky.
You don't start getting a lot of action around here until about 500 watches.
It sounds disappointing, but the good thing is, it's A LOT easier to get noticed here than it is on DA, because it's a much smaller community. :)
I've been here for three years, and I have almost 900 watchers, whereas I've been on DA for 6 years and only have 200.
You just have to be patient is all. >v<
Also, I suggest uploading between 11 AM- 1 P.M and 11 PM to 1 A.M. OvO That's when most people are on. XD
But I will maybe avoid giving requests to new watchers, or something like that. Don't know if that will help. I will definitely try the time zone thing.
But at that point your looking at some kind of marketing formula, rather than a community.
So, the other way to go is to enter a community, like, people who draw Pokemon or porn. If you just wanted a lot of comments you could always draw porn - don't know why but porn fans are vary, um, interactive. But then your not necessarily doing what you want, your catering to an audience.
What you probably want is a community of interactive individuals - which means the tedious process of building a watcher base. Which is... time consuming and a bit difficult to monitor.
I usually go off of watchers and page views over comments and favorites.
So, we can run some numbers on your account.
Your account has been active since Aug 25 2013, and it's about may 25th now, so nine months, or about 270 days.
You have accumulated 552 front page views in that time and 60 watchers, while only watching 11 people (a six to one ratio in your favor). This means that, on average, you get two unique people coming to view your front page a day, and about six new watchers per month.
The six works that you have on the front page have a combined total of about 80 views.
It looks like people are pretty interested in your work, especially taking into consideration that your account is less than a year old.
So, progress!
I'd give it a bit of time. I bet in a year or so you'll be getting more frequent comments and favorites.
Of course, if you get uncomfortable doing free art, you could always take a break and just do what you feel like doing. If you're not having fun, you should mix it up a bit. You have fun when you make art!
It's actually pretty weak as far as statistical analysis goes, but it paints a broad picture. I would need to sit down and break the data carefully up over actual time samples and graph the thing to see what's really going on, but who has time for that?
No I don't enjoy drawing porn, or even nudity, so it might take much longer but you're right, I'd rather have people watching who enjoy seeing what I enjoy producing. I think after this challenge I'll probably change the way I do free art, like people have to do something to get something. Then at least I'll feel like it's not entirely one half the time.
