It doesn't use the wacom tech anymore, and has reduced pressure sensitivity, from what I was reading this morning.
Which is too bad, my complaint with the first one is that it's kind of heavy and awkward. :<

That is NOT a thing I was expecting. I'll have to read more on it...

They use N-trig, which uses a different technology than wacom which uses EMR.
So the cursor will be closer to the tip of the pen (more accurate), but apparently there's jitter issues with n-trig, and the hover distance is lower.
I'm not too concerned with 256 levels of pressure, I do all my art with old wacom tech that has 256 levels of pressure too.

I'll definitely give it a good try at least, because everything else about it seems perfect to me.

Yeah, I read something along those lines as well. I like the idea that it's more accurate, but I get really bugged (like, I wanna throw something across the room) whenever I run into a pen delay. It just irks me.

I don't think it has problems with delay. At least not while drawing, but I do think the cursor lags behind the pen when you're just hovering. Something to do with power saving.

Ahhh I love the surface pro 2, my boyfriend has one and it's a dream to draw with. Didn't realize they were booting wacom though, bad move on their part, wacom IMO is the best when it comes to tablets and tablet pens. :/

Looking forward to seeing the new surface pros in action though, might finally sell my stupid ipad 4 and save up for one... We will see how it handles drawing though, if it is a step down I'll just get the pro2.

The first gen works well enough for me. It could stand to run a little cooler (the type cover actually keeps my hands from overheating, lol), maybe also would do well with a little more battery effeciency, but I've done complete drawings with them. About the only thing I really hate doing is inking. Maybe some coloring also when it gets a little laggy.

I have yet to try a full on picture with it, just doodles. Interesting!

I don't travel much, but I do also use it for work. I like to have a place I can sketch that isn't right on my desk, so I can lazily do some sketching on the couch or in bed, or in the chair with my feet up.

Definitely interested in this... Nice that it's coming out before AC.

I have an old TX2 lying about; which has an N-trig digitizer, and while the multitouch is superb; and the pressure is responsive... It didn't play well with applications that use the Wintab driver like (photoshop, SAI, OpenCanvas) I didn't get pressure out of it in those programs.

It's fine if you can handle just using Artrage, Sketchbook pro or Manga studio. Otherwise it's kind of a step back.

Maybe they've got their act together now? I'm not urgently looking to replace my first gen Pro, but I like to know that I have the option of replacing it with a better model, so I'm hoping they've gotten it to work okay now. If not, I'll have to look elsewhere.

As faf as ive seen, read etc. They still dont fully support wintab applications...

Darn, it uses n-trig? That sucks i have surface 1 as well i was debating on whether i should get the 3, oh well. I might just get a nice pc with a cintiq...
