Why is it...

When an artist is trying to do/make something to make more money they're seen as being a 'money grabbers' and 'greedy'.
I honestly don't understand uh…How dare they make a living??? How dare they be lucky enough to have customers to pay for their service??
Some people have this website and do artwork as their main income but for some reason it's not okay for them to try to make a little more and try new ideas out to make more money its just.
???? I will never understand these concepts of artists being greedy when they're the same as anyone else in this world. Just trying to survive.
*huge shrug*

Which is a laugh because when you live almost commission to commission...theres really nothing to be jealous about haha.
That and some people see YCH as a cheap cop-out to make a large profit for a smaller bit of work. Problem is it's flawed thinking.
I could go more, but I think that's a good summary at the moment *Hugs the Chu-Chu~*
u.u siiigh *hugsback*
I think you'll appreciate that silly meme.
But honestly, it's dumb for people to say that. Bet they're the types to complain about FREE art too.
Folks that post YCH/other auctions, but then repost their advert for it every two hours*.
- I don't have a problem with adoptables, auctions, or YCHs, but I don't need my inbox flooded with 10+ reminders for the Same auction/sale.
Folks that post publicly calling for commissions/influx of money but then ignore any inquiries for custom commission work.
- If you** want money that badly and consider yourself a fursuit maker/artist/etc., it behooves one to at least respond to my note so I don't feel insignificant.
Folks that Spend money for a convention, not selling at that convention.. instead Buying a lot of stuff to resell, and then crying they have no money.
- Again, if one is hard pressed for cash for RENT AND UTILITIES, don't spend on a convention.. and certainly don't buy a crapton of the merchandise in hopes of reselling immediately.
Folks that have a queue 15* people long that have been on there for months, and yet they take new commissions for similar/equal product.
- I understand you** may be in need, but it looks bad to neglect previous comissioners to pump out new art. If you can't keep up with your current queue, something definitely needs reassessed. Either charge more, or dedicate more time each day to completing previous commissions.
*An approximation of time.
**Used in a figurative sense, and not meant as a direct attack in any way, I promise!
Like, I've seen some Youtubers advertise their shirts and stuff, and half the comments section is filled with, "Well, looks like they've finally sold out". People just need to stop sometimes.
How dare we try to do drawings all day, we should work at a job we are unhappy with because that what people feel we should do.
People cry over the stupidest things. The ych is a brilliant way to make money purely because people will bid what they feel the spot is worth it. I seen people unwatched artist cause they are sick of the YCH stuff. I mean heaven forbid if people don't spend their money on what they feel is fit.
Scams have made people suspicious. WHy do artists need to increase their earning amount? probably for a good sound reason, like a tax increase or a new addition to the family meaning another mouth to feed. Does everyone see it that way? No, they tend to think "Oh they've done something stupid like gambled and gone into debt". People would do the same if they didn't know you personally and you'd asked for a raise at a shop.
In some cases its the artist fault as well. You heard of HardBlush? They've offered new packages where 90% of the content is something that's already been released. This isn't actually a bad thing because it allows new users to get ahold of image sets that aren't available anymore, a second chance if you will, but the site tends to neglect the old customers and doesn't offer a cheaper versions with just the new stuff. That right there is the artists fault, for not taking all their customers into consideration. Yes artists are like anyone else in any working industry, but when a company undervalues you, then you complain but many artists never see the original complaint until its spiraled out of control and several rumours have been started because of it. The sad part is that this trouble is easily avoided by remembering that you have new customers popping up all the time and old loyal ones, keep both in mind or you'll anger everyone. This is expected of everyone in every other industry, art is no exception. That is literally the only thing that artists do wrong, but its no surprize because most of you haven't worked with a large company and had to deal with customer complaints, this is easily remedied by keeping in mind that we are your customers in the same way we are Netflix's customers, treat us with the same respect you expect from them and you're guaranteed the moral high ground.
Art comes in two forms to the customer, a quick pic or a personal one. With a personal one the customer is more willing to pay a higher price because it matters to them. If I could afford it I'd pay 1 Mil for an artist to get my OC just right, but I've also got quirky ideas that if I can get for free...I'll get them for free. The best way to tackle this mind set is, education. I think I know a good way to do this...draw one picture to your highest standard, and record everything. Leave it recording for everything, including bathroom breaks and hours spent sleeping...and upload the video, and tell people this is how long it takes you to draw one great picture. They can't ignore it if when they start complaining about how long its taking, you send them a recording of how long it takes you, with things like eating and drinking getting in the way...video footage isn't something they can deny very easily. And when I say record I mean all we see is your computer screen, on and what is happening on it, you could add large words like "Sleeping" to clarify why the art isn't being made. And when I say record I mean that the video isn't sped up, if you sleep for 9 hours it records the screen being inactive for 9 straight hours. this isn't just a great way to stick it to every moron that thinks there's a magic"Make Art" button on your computer, but its educational in how modern artists live. Its also highly insightful as to how you as an artist live. Sure it'll take awhile but if it teaches morons a lesson I'd say its worth a try.
There's also one way in which artists shoot their skills down...the term "Anyone can be an artist". While this statement is true, it also means that people can ask the question...if anyone can, why the heck am I paying you? To this...I have no answer. I doubt anyone does, as the only solution is to actually stop the entire progress of the arts to s standstill.
Just my little view on things.
People who work "normal jobs" seem to have a fantasy-mindset about doing a hobby for a living. That it's l sunshine and rainbows. Not hoping and praying that you get enough commissioners to pay your electic bills so you can keep producing art.
I had someone tell me once that they would be "ripped off" because their character was really detailed and complex and would take more than 1 hour to draw.
Um, no. It's called "being fairly compensated for your time". If thinking you're getting ripped off is higher up in your mind than knowing you're helping an artist survive another month of bills, maybe buying artwork isn't for you?
Block, ban, move on. Best thing you can do.
Just because he can't afford to buy fap material, doesn't give him the right to talk down to artists like that. This is why I have a huge hate for people with blank accounts because most of them are rude like that.
If you actually do the math, artists don't make much money at all, which is why sometimes they have to ask or beg for orders.
these people are nothing more than trolling assholes. -_-;
this kind reminds me you don't wanna see that Dr. Phil episode... omg that was terrible. -_-;
was it really that awful? I knew it would be but fffffff
honestly he's a bigger douche than John Edward.
The only people he knocked on were Boomer the Dog because.... Well... Boomer. And the lady that tried BREASTFEEDING RABBITS. And asked her daughter to help her indulge in her bizarre behaviors.
Please forgive my autocorrect.
Like???? Not only American artists draw for money????????
Honestly sounds like a bunch of butthurt douchebags who just want free art. There's a surefire way to get free art: make your own.
