What's attractive in an OC?

I have to start saving up for a new desk and laptop after Fanime- so i'll be opening up commissions and making more adopts in these following weeks.
Even though i will probably ignore everything here and continue drawing torrens b/c im a huge sucker, what do you peeps find attractive in an OC? I personally adore sea creatures and have a massive soft-spot for demon babs (or any monster with horns for that matter).
Plus I love weird creatures c: (not your typical canine, cat, etc..) :D
I also like contrast, be it dark and light, or color! <3
i have a nasty habit of keeping the color palette too close together
thats the hardest part

I'm strangely drawn to really dark characters as well, they seem to have the best designs sometimes
I also really love characters that don't fit into the good/evil binary
For example, I have an antagonist character in a graphic novel I'm working on who is portrayed as a horrible and evil man, but his motives for doing what he does isn't for the sake of being evil, rather he has a very strong "the end justifies the means" complex wherein he may do evil things, but in his mind it's all necessary evil for the sake of a just result (if that makes any sense at all, I tend to ramble)
my favorite characters are the tiny but mean-spirited, BWAHAHAHAHA
props for taking on a graphic novel, i just dont have the discipline for continuation stuff

I love writing stories and making characters, but never aspired to take it anywhere, so alas, I'm trying to take up a graphic novel
