So what's this operation for? Removing the tooth altogether?

It's an evil wisdom tooth that needs extracting.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out at 18. All 4 of them. People told me horror story after horror story about getting their wisdom teeth out. I got mine taken out and while there was general soreness,it was hardly the "unbearable nightmare" I'd been hearing about. So on the whole,don't dread going in for it. It's not that bad. However,yours sounds like it's got some extra complications,so you might be a bit extra sore. They should give you pain killers "just in case" tho. So as long as you don't have a history of being addicted to them,it should be fine.

It is that bad I'm afraid, definitely extra complications, Lucy has severely hooked roots and there is a chance of nerve damage from the operation due to the length and depth of the roots. Luckily at 18 wisdom teeth aren't fully formed so the roots aren't as problematic

Well,they still give you pain killers at least.

Which should be good. I'm generally not a fan of taking pain meds but they will be shaving off a bit of my jaw bone and that makes me want to have them on standby. *hugs lots and lots*

Just watch out for infections. That's the worst thing. Try to keep those teeth brushed and that mouthwash ready. Still,gums heal up pretty quick if they're healthy. After a week you should be "out of the woods" on that,even if it's still achy. And just remember people are pulling for you. See what I did thar?
