I enjoy Trance and Progressive House the most (like deadmau5 when he isn't making a pop hit). The tracks are a nice length, constantly builds on itself, and just feels morefull in sounds. Just keeps a good thing going, like a minute long build up xD

Least favorite is probably any genre that is too ADHD for me xD Skrillex comes to mind. There just HAS to be something new every two beats and it just sounds like an organized mess. I like consistent tracks that are complete in sound that isn't too bass heavy or two treble heavy. Or just not heavy at all.

I understand your viewpoint. I have to be in the mood for sporadic dubstep. I love them both, but I, too, am one for consistent sounding tracks.

Don't like Dub step. Its all random noise to me, and very few songs that is dub step catch my ear, and is hard to work with as a DJ.

I was a metal head through high school until I went into EDM. Now I'm indulged.

I understand people's picky-ness about dubstep and as I said in a comment before I have to be in the mood for it. Personal experience it isn't too bad to mix, the trickiest genre to mix for me would be Drum and Bass, but I've gotten the hang of it since I started.

+1 to Industrial! :D I need to get back into it and the many subgenres, I haven't paid much attention to it for a couple of years.

I'm going to have to cheat and list more than one favorite as well. :P Hard dance, Hardcore (especially freeform & UK), and Trance (especially vocal) are absolutely my favorites (and the ones I mix the most). Anything with a good melody and driving energy is a great way to win me over! Industrial, EBM, and Future Synthpop are where I started my electronic journey, though, and they still hold a soft spot in my heart.

In general I'm really tolerant with all other EDM genres and can find something to enjoy in any of them. However, I really cannot get into Trap, any of the extremely minimal (sub)genres of EDM, or speedcore (though this at least amuses me...200+ bpm, lolwut?!).

I like your interests! I agree on all of them. I actually started with Hard dance/Hardcore when I first dove headfirst into EDM.

Personally, I love Trap, but it can be overplayed at shows sometimes. I never really could get hooked to speedcore, however.

I *despise* rap. I mean, just look at the name itself. One letter from crap, one letter from rape. Describes it well. The world should be like post-Halloween. All the rappers need to be thrown away.

Yeah I only like a handful of rap. 90% of it I dislike haha. The handful of rap I like is some rappers who integrate themselves into DnB. Rap IS crap, but rap in DnB is very very nice.

Dubstep = stripper music. It's like a bad laxative.....just doesn't move me.

Trance, progressive trance and house and chill step. I'm quite happy to see a lot of trance lovers here. Least favorites, dubstep, techno. And some of the hard stuff, it's way to distorted and some producers just am up the track and slap a limiter on it.

Love some gabber and glitch <3 haha I enjoy Datsik and Excision personally. Out of all the shows I've been to Excision is top 3. I have to say though, never heard of lolicore.

I've noticed how less popular DnB is from the shows I've been too, but it's slowly growing. Need more euro boys over in America.

I'm not too crazy about industrial either.

My favorite genres of electronic music are glitchhop and experimental. And when I say experimental, I mean any genre that I like because it sounds awesomely different. I have a rather eclectic taste in music, but if it is glitched or synthed, I LOVE it!

I love hard style and hard trance, it's what I make and dj. The strength and power of the kicks gives off such strong feeling and then how every 4th measure of the the song has something different and new on each pause brings anticipation. I am a fan of all forms of trance *progressive and vocal mainly* it's a heavenly form of music wit a danceable beat and is very melodic. I dnb for the the amount of energy it puts out and dubstep cause its crushing sounds and bass. I guess you can say I find good in all generes XD.

But do have to say I don't like speedcore or rap. I mean the radio rap. I like industrial rap and urban, but what's on the radio now just sucks XC. I really don't like speedcore. What can you do to it? You can't shuffle or jumpstyled cause its best is too fast, you can't tut or tektonic cause you can't predict the melody or rythm. Why have something that fast?

Surprisingly to me I've been seeing more dislikes on dubstep and more likes on trance and dnb. It is strange I tell ya, but then again not all edm furs have commented on this journal x3

My most favorite type of EDM is Trance, which I feel has been losing it's identity. Some Progessive House actually sounds more Trance-like than a lot of tracks labeled as Trance as of late. Least favorite type of EDM is Trap (I'm sorry, is that even a form of EDM? It just sounds like Hip-Hop to me) a very close second is Brostep aka Skrillex style. Actual Dubstep isn't bad and sounds somewhat different.

I see plenty of Trance still being produced and is amazing. I can see some Progressive sounding more trance like, depending on the tracks. Trap is actually a form of EDM I do believe. How I describe it is "Instrumental Hip-Hop" which I love the idea of, but is being overplayed at most shows/festivals. I agree on Brostep being kinda stupid, but Skrillex's new experimental stuff is amazing!

Very nice choices! Some I've never heard of before, haha. I was in a fast, noisy and aggressive mood last night so I played a ton of dark dnb, hardstyle, and so on. :P

What's interesting is that Hardstyle and Trap go hand in hand soooo well. DVBBS and MOTi's new track "This is Dirty" has a remix out now that starts off as trap and leads into a banging hardstyle mix. It's very interesting, but they do share the same bpm so it's easy to collaborate with.
