Tell the FCC that you want Net Neutrality
11 years ago
I rarely post such articles but i feel this one is important and its something we (Both in the United States and the rest of the world) can stop.
If haven't heard, the FCC is planing on releasing some new laws. These new give internet providers (Att, verizon, comcast, so on and so forth) the ability manipulate the amount of data being sent through. This will mostly affect Youtube, Netflix and any small upcoming business.
You might be asking "How does this affect me if its only affecting big people like youtube, google, and other big names?"
What this law allows is for the internet providers to do is to put even more clamps and restrictions, forcing internet companies to pay more. If they don't, there internet will become extremely slow. In order to recoup there losses or even to keep up with the high demand of watchers, they will have to increase the price of monthly subscription or even start making a monthly subscription. Imagine paying 20+ dollars for netflix or 5 dollars a month for google and youtube?
This will also affect any up and coming business's. Unless they are able to pay for the good service, they will be forced to use the slow connection. Making it impossible to keep up with large names like youtube or netflix.
For a better example, here is some imagery.
Lets imagine that the internet is a bunch of railroad tracks. You have your small passenger trains (Us) Medium sized cargo (Business) and your massive cargo large cargo trains that need huge and fast tracts to serve millions of people a minute (internet companies)
With net neutrality, all the internet providers can do is offer tickets to "faster" tracks. They can't increase the price's thanks to government regulations so they are stuck with what they got unless they make a faster track.
With this new law coming in, it will allow them to take a "track" and purposely sabotage it, making it slower but still the same price. Yet they can use another track with the same speed but with less restrictions. All they have to do is pay 3 times more then what they were before.
There is a way to stop this however. The law has still not been passed and can still be affect to our advantage. If you are interested please watch this video to find out how. And be sure to share it with as many people as possible.
