My coloring...weird?

I have discovered from the feedback of numerous people recently that my coloring and shading technique is strange. While everything below the neck is fine, it seems that people are affected mostly by the way I color faces. Some say that it is off-putting and even very disturbing. Yes, I am pretty much asking for critique right now. I was unaware of this for the longest time, and I have to fix it. So, please be honest with me, is my coloring technique strange?

Please take note that I prefer requests that have to do with vore. This is my VORE ACCOUNT; drawing vore with all different kinds of characters is not only an experience, but something I take as a variety of opportunities to improve in certain areas. Thanks. Then again, I am no artist, so I am not sure how much my opinion matters ^^;
Probably the "worst" coloring within the past year is that Yveltal's shading is somewhat inconsistent in that Pokévore comic. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it looks a little too flat. It's made worse by the fact that Mightyena's shading and stark black-and-white fur looks great ... while standing next to it.
your colouring only seems to steadily improve
The muzzle bridge shadowing (which also was commented on) *may* give your characters a somewhat darker look then intended, but it really isn't that noticeable an effect.
All that being said, I rather like 'em myself, so I'm biased.
The problem with copyrighted characters is that a lot of people want them done strictly in the style of the show, or worse, in the style of another artist. When you then draw something in your own style, they get huffy about it.
When I "shop" artists, I shop style as much as anything, and I try to match character to style. I'm never disappointed that way. ^.^ But many fans don't seem to be able to look that far ahead.
