How do YOU Handpaws?

im going to be making a lot of little journals like this i feel, just asking peoples preferences and suggestions as I make different things and think about making different things
So this time im asking about Hand paws!
Answer or comment on whatever questions you feel like C:
When you make hands that are going to be all one color do you make the whole hand and fingers all in one piece? or do you cut out and attach each finger separately?
My Answer: personally I think doing it all in one piece is way easier and faster of course, but then some of the fingers fur direction is completely sideways :C So im making mine with each finger separately
Do you prefer more form fitting paws with longer fingers so they look/feel like regular hands? Or shorter fingers? Do you find the shorter fingers uncomfortable?
My Answer: I think the shorter fingers are MUCH cuter and look a lot more animal like so I like them better of course but at the same time they feel a bit weird because im used to having... regular length fingers XD
Do you like claws on your paws? plastic, clay or felted? Who do you prefer to buy claws from? or do you prefer to make your own? What do you make them out of?
My Answer: I dont have much experience with different makers claws, but ive got DVC claws and i LOVE them! their so smooth. I dont think I want to make my own because making 10 IDENTICAL claws seems pretty darn hard ;_;
What kind of paw pads do you like? If you like pad pads on your paws at all. and how do you prefer or think is the best way to attach them (even if you dont do it that way XD)? Do you attach your pads before or after sewing the 2 hand halves together?
My Answer: Ive got DVC pads and YEEP pads and i really like them both for different reasons, because their such different styles, DVC is more realistic but YEEP is super sleek and cute so it just depends on the look your going for. I cant stand pads made of fabrics.. I just hate them :C Their probably comfier, more flexible and easier to maneuver in but... eh. im picky with them. I feel like the best way to attach them may be to cut a whole in the paw and sew them in good sides together, like regular sewing so that it hides the seam.
I prefer to make the fingers separate cuase lol ALL ONE PIECE has been really terrible for my knobby fingers. I have the most...oddly shaped knuckles so trying to make paws in one piece has yielded terrible results and wasted fabric :k It's more work making individual fingers, but it feels more satisfying knowing it'll fit my hands nicely in the end -u-
When I was looking at your gloves, I realized for my next pair that I'mma make the fingers shorter so they look more animalistic. I've always made fingers the actual length of my finger and it looks weird on the final product :k The paw pads feel too far from each-other so I'mma use shorter fingers next time and see how that do.
Clay/Resin claws look PERRRFECT but I prefer Felt cause PFFT. Not willing to spend too too much on claws -m- Besides I can slap my paws around and not worry about anything falling off/out/potentially replace it. I can sew fabric/felt into the fur and know nothing is gon tear it off. One thing I will say plastic/Resin claws look WAYYY too small on feet paws >:x I want to see bigger claws on feetpaws! It's not too shabby making claws tho, I do kinda like making claws out of Sculpey (FUCKIN GLOW IN THE DARK MAN). You don't have to get them the exact size (They'd be off by millimetres anyway and it's not like anyone is going to measure them) Besides you can pair off bigger ones and smaller ones to each set of fingers, bigger claws to your middle finger and smaller claws to you pinky.
Frig yeah pawpads!! They so cute >u< I would like them squishy pawpads you have one day but for now, I just use stretchy fabric and stuff them with stuffing (Hard to make clean applique tho :x ) I like how they look just becuase they look plump and plush~
thats true, i hate the look of claws on feetpaws, but thats mostly because people make feet SO big and then put the claws up so high, i hate that. im guna put claws on my feet but their going to be low so they make the clicks when i walk (i love the clicks when animals walk). thats true, i might make super tiny claws out of sculpey for the hands im making right now. and u can potentially sew in claws! if u make the rim at the bottom like DVCs claws, and/or if u stab through little pin holes before cooking them!
you know even if uve got fabric pads u can still sew them in to hide the seam, i dont know it u stuff them before or after putting them on. but make them full pads with a front and back, stuff them and then atach them in the same way i said, thatl get rid of the seams.
