so i got the dreaded email from MFF that I've been stuck on the waiting list along with many other regular dealers. Because of this the likelihood of myself and
has dropped dramatically [like into the 2-3% range]
As much as i want to go, i simply cannot afford to go to a con that I'm not dealing at, this is how i pay for my conventions and how some of my bills get paid [as well as purchasing supplies and equipment]
As much as i understand the desire for cons to give new dealers a try, this honestly has me very worried for the future since it seems many of the larger cons are going to this system. It used to be i would get on my comp just before the dealers reg was supposed to open, poised and ready, then get my app in the moment the reg opened. Now i know that yes, i may miss out on a table because of high volume of entries, but at least in that case i knew it was because someone else had beaten me to it and my spot on the wait list would be at least within the realm of possibility that i would get a table and i would plan accordingly.
Heck even FurFright's dealers system wasn't as much of a let down as this, sunday any dealer who wanted to try for the next year put their info in, and a number of names would be drawn randomly from that pool to fill half the spots, rest of them would go to general opening. even that system if you didn't get in it wasn't as big of a let down since it was "ok the numbers weren't in my favor today". Alright time to cut the rantyramble off xP
So as of right now, convention wise, myself and
have nothing between Rainfurrest and FC.
I am currently waiting to hear back from unthrocon, but for Nov/dec the only con i know of is MFF.

Seriously, I get really pissy about stuff like this, the whole idea of "Equalized opportunity" bothers me, as does this system with its pretty dramatic potential for favoritism and nepotism... First come First serve whoever can pay for the space seems the best way to go.
Even like, take all applications and randomly draw half is more fair, at least half get FC/FS and the other half have as good a chance as anyone else provided they get their ass on there and register.
Meh... Also I'm honest enough with myself to say I'm pissed whenever I see anyone I like get the shaft.
Best of luck bro... also.. RMFC ys?
yeah, the biggest worry with any system like this is wondering what the criteria was for selection, or if the one choosing has a grudge against a particular artist/vendor. but ultimatley, it's up to the con who they let sell there, i just hope they can survive the double hit of the new date [which for many is on finals week or just before finals week] and others who normally go to see particular artists not going because those artists won't be there.
they set aside 10 spots for new dealers and new dealers only for their own personal application;
the other 40 they do as a first come first serve, people who want in, are in, or something. Kind of how they did it in the past.
then, closer to the time of MFF, if the new spots haven't filled, then they go to the wait list and such to fill them.
This way, the seniors and people who actively make money at MFF and AC and whatever other con, get in, but there's still room so new people don't get completely shut out
I'm of the opinion that if you're not willing to camp a reg page for four hours breaking your F5 key, then you're not serious about dealing and don't deserve a spot. Maybe I'm crazy.
I am loving your glassware, btw, you're doing some really awesome, clean work. Sending you a note.
I'm harassing MFF to see if I can get a response about how/why they selected some dealers and not others, hopefully we can get some answers. :/
Any chance you two might check out Furpocalypse, FurFright's replacement?
we'd like to, but that's well over a 2500 mile drive for us xP
I hope they listen to what people are saying and change how they deal with picking people back to how it use to be for next year :/
*Makes a Sad Face*
nothing new on the AC front, still gonna be at table K08
Im making something for ya.
