5 Years of Mixing, Freeform Hardcore, and You
11 years ago
General
It's hard for me to believe that it's already been 5 years since I picked up my first midi controller and started this whole DJ adventure, but I can honestly say that I haven't regretted it for any step of the way! The music, the community, and the sheer fun of it all keep pushing me to hone my craft and make better and better experiences for you all to enjoy. :)
Every year around this time I've been releasing the next installment of the Critical Error mix series, trying to do it as close to the anniversary of the first mix I released (Critical Error 00, which was terrible, ha), and now it is time for the (slightly late) Critical Error 04. It's a freeform hardcore ride that will take you through highs and lows, but keep you grooving all along!
This year's installment has what is probably the highest amount of furry-produced music of any mix I've ever done. Of the 20 tracks, 7 were either produced or remixed by folks on this site. And, for a change of pace, I've actually got the mix uploaded and ready for download as well as having it on Mixcloud! :D
So what does the last part of this journal's title have to do with this post? Well, everything, really. If it weren't for you all and the support and encouragement you've shown, I don't know if I ever would have made it this far. I can't begin to express how much it means to me to see people dancing away to one of my sets, or leaving a few kind words on an online mix, or even just giving my mixes a listen in the first place. Yes, I'm doing this for the love of the music, but even more so I'm doing it with the hope that it will make someone else's day just a little more awesome.
Enough jibber-jabber, though, on to the mix! :)

Man... hard to believe it's been that long, but nice! I remember how excited you were to start it all at the time, and how you really hoped that one day you'd get to DJ a furry event. Well, you did it, you got damn good at it, AND you did do lots of furry DJ'ing stuff. Can only keep getting better from there. ^_^

He he he, yep, I was stoked when I was able to DJ for Furry Fiesta this year. Playing a con was one of the goals I set up for myself when I took up this hobby, but now that I've gotten deeper into mixing as well as organizing shows I just keep thinking about where else to go with it. Probably the craziest goal is that I want to have a rave in a water park--not sure if that is ever going to happen, but it would be awesome! :P

Everything else that you've wanted to happen has, so... I don't see why not. ^_^ And that would be very awesome to see too.

Wooo, thanks for the encouragement! If it ever does happen I think I will be flabbergasted, and then I'll have to focus on practical things like "Ok, so how do we not get electrocuted?" :P

*laughs* Well... for starters, don't DJ in the water. XD I think all you'd have to do is make sure you were near the water and fun, but away from any splash potential. Though that certainly doesn't mean you couldn't arm yourself with a variety of fun and large water guns. :3 You know... for keeping the crowd awake.
