Hard or soft cover?

That's a tough question...I'll buy either version. Most of my artbooks are hard cover editions, but...I can take either type.

Well Ill take as your preference. XD

If it is easier for you to put the artbook together as a soft cover, you consider that, too.

As a collector of artbooks, though...hard cover artbooks hold up longer than soft cover ones. I have two Kazuya Minecura artbooks that were softcover editions and some of the pages started falling out the more often I look at it. So, if you're looking for quality, a hard cover edition may be the best to go in the final decision.

Well I try to consider quality and prize.
Because in a way my artbook will be competition with all the other artbook.

If my artbook prize goes lets say 50$ people might be less interested in giving it a chance since I'm not that etablish compare to hardblush, but if is lets say 35$ then maybe people will be more willing to give it a chance.

I'll still look forward to getting it, whichever type you get to put out. But, yep...there are a lot of people who look at money over the item. To me, if I want the artbook...I would pay for it. My Yuzo Takada "The Last Order" artbook was $99.95--it was hard-cover at a large size (11"x17" -inches-), but to me it was worth it to buy, because I loved the artist.

I think the high cost was due to importing them from Japan...it was a lot more expensive to do it 10 years ago than it is to import artbooks now. *chuckle*

I like hard covers for the shelves although softcovers are nice for on the go

I don't feel as bad if the softcovers get a little mangled when they're the cheaper versions. They're kinda made to be a little more flexible with being crammed somewhere and used heavily.

I usually go for soft cover since they are less heavy to carry around.

There's just something about a hardcover I like, albeit more expensive. I think they usually last a bit longer too. Unless you know someone that eats the pages out of them...:)

SHe has a couple of the hard back harry potter books with the pages torn around the edges. SHe ate them when she was a kid.

I prefer hardcover books, less chance of it getting damaged.

If the book is at least a CM + half (1.5) I'd say awesome for book type. Smaller I'd just go digital, but I'm not fond of digital..
All in all, I'd go book.

As an artbook-fag myself I'd say hardcover for retro styled, mythology/fantasy books or all kind (DND and CALL OF CTHULHU are both GOOD example of this) fits better.
As for the other cover type I like it better for artbooks. Coincidentally, check out how UDON ENTERNAIMENT made their ARTBOOKs (I/II/III).
Imo, always liked small books/magazines to be soft cover.

How many pages are you planning to do?

80-120 page
