honestly, im still getting pissy and wizards for printing money and giving it to all the rich people... MTGO has foily black lotus's in it, and they sell for nealry $2000 to the right person, but the odds of pulling one are 1/500+ AND wizards isnt restricting the formats anymore, so people on MTGO are playing decks that are worth several hundred thousands dollars and cliaming its casual, and so long as one person says its casual they wont stop playing form shitting on people.


All this in light of the fact i saw someone with a PLAYSET of foil lotus;s, in the casual room, with a fully foiled out T1 lockout deck, that makes you pay 1 more mana for everything, cant search your library, cant play lands, has mass LD, turn 1 jace so you cant contorl your own draws, and when i told them i disapproved i was "cryhjard who should quit magic for not understanding how a collectable card gamne works and should go back to the beginners room" because i didnt have a deck worth that much, in casual...

well i knew mtgo was a crapshot from the start.

not just MTGO though, certain people, specifically judges, who have been around for X amount of time are being given actual, paper versions of cards you cant relaly find anymore. Such as force of will, foil commanders form the commander sets, extreemely expensive staples like goblin welder, or dark confidant, the 5 swords of power and value, jitte... the list goes on.


And they are completley legal for all play, and lets not forget modern masters, the 5 card planeswalker set form pax or whatever, the zendikar alpha cards, the total lack of concern for the secondary market which cause players like us to pay absurdly high amounts of money for staples like the fetch lands, shock lands, and more...

Overall wizards of the coast is slowly but surely turning into games workshop, a comapny that doesnt care about anyone or anything but money, they will screw out its own playerbase if it thinks it can make a buck faster in doing so.

well i get judge reward cards. the dudes dont get paid for all their effort. what pisses me off is how wizards is working in tandem with starcity games to gouge prices, plan cards, and make sure prices dont drop.

its hard to say they dont get paid for their effort when the cards they get are worth hundreds of dollars.

and im a rules advisor and run events every friday, and i dont get anything at all, and im in the process of trying to open a shop and wizards wont allow me to buy direct until i have a shop, and product, and have run a tourney IN the store... meaning i have to buy seconhand product to get product from them.

Not sure what im going to do about my future in magic, cant do legacy because of absurdly overpriced staples, cant do modern because of absurdly overporiced staples, standard is in constant rotation meaning i have ot dumb stupid amounts of money into it every 3 months...

If it wasnt for the fact i enjoy it id have quit already.

thats some bullshit about product too. the last place i played at i was with while they were trying to go full card shop. had to have fucking pictures with more than 12 people participating at events. They're as bad as games workshop.

oh, waking up this morning and checking out spoilers and... shocker ANOTHER FUCKING NEW JACE... Hes only had 20 varients now, clealry not enough. And as usual all the other colours of magic have shit cards and blue has broken bullshit.

Im predicting now that UW control dominates the next years of magic with jace, ajani (new ajani too) and all the new blue and white crap...

I stopped playing M:tG when I realized the difference between it and card games without strong 'collectable' overtones. Wizards' business model involves them having to break the game continuously in order to make a routine profit. By producing card sets and revolving, they force people who wish to stay current to purchase an ungodly amount of cards, when really, they shouldn't -have- to.

yeah, i got started with hearthstone to fill the gap. then i just stopped that too.

Although they are still Collectible, look into getting 'full' card games, like Netrunner. These games include the same cards in every pack and set that you purchase, so while they still have the collectible aspect, the randomness is not present, keeping players on a more or less even field.
