What is wrong with Deviantart?
You know, I've started posting my art online from deviantart. It was, as statistics says, five years ago. I was posting where for 3 years, then I've had a sort of crysis and stopped it, but not so long ago I've started to post my art on DA again.
Aaaand....

Here, on FA, I never was really active, I've posted art from time to time, and I could be offline for months. But however inactive I am here, however quet I may be in groups, forums and journals, I'm getting here FAR more feedback than I'm having on Deviantart now!
I've posted every day.
I've joined 198713761387 groups. Some are turned out dead despite the amount of members(I've met a dead group with deactivated founder having 5000+ members).
I've tried to be as active as only possible without turning into a DA bot.
I've been there for such a long time now.
And I still have more feedback here on each new submissions than on summary there! Actually I have more feedback on weasyl where I am active for three(!) days now!
What is going on?
And it seems like it not only me who having such a problem. I am faaar not the best artist and most of the time I am an artshadow. But I've noticed that a lot of good artists have made FA their main gallery and abandoned or made their DA secondary. /incert slowpoke here/
I hope I am just being paranoid, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. If I was a PR manager, I'd starved to death. Everything I see about DA is that the whole site is turning into a big adotable-wolfaboo-fanart commercial platform, nothingless. My friend gave me premium there, and an ability to use DA wayback machine. And you know what? "popular for all time" in 2006-2008 is so much cooler than what we can see there now!
So I will use my FA as my main gallery, as I did for these "hiatus" two years. Just because group fagging is not my way=\

On DA, generally, they're teenagers, tv-show, anime and comic book -fans. You should mix your original art and fanart to get their attention - this is sad, but that's how things work there.
Just keep posting your art, give it a time.
I wasn't always an anthro artist, so on DA I think it drove people away, but I just ended up with more feedback with that. I have the best fanbase here, with active watchers. I think DA is just turning into a blackhole. At first when I was on it over 8 years ago or maybe, it was more active. I have joined groups on requests, but generally do nothing but upload there. DA is for Lurking/Watching, and less of a broad community as of late. I sometimes feel like no one even looks at my art there. It's either pros or newbs, and no community for the day to day artist of quality.
I'd like to know why it is so.
You post and it is lost in a sea of uploads. You really have to network there, which I just do not have the time for. Sure I do that here, but its not like a second job in PR.
I have theories that they prefer it that way because DA has been known to yank designs, and then you see them in Hot Topic. I think they like it to feel so flooded that they have a huge network of art to steal. That's my tin hat one, at least.
My other theory is that they do not have a good update and browse system. The updates are wonderful because they do not do flood control, but, what happens is that stuff moves off the page quicker. I think they should use the stash as a upload buffer. Where you rapid fire upload but they go to stash and then one by one upload in a timed sequence, so there is a buffer for everyone. (Without loosing the "Ain't got time fo that" perk)
Anyway I don't understand how it can fix things=(

к примеру пару лет назад я активно ковырялась с фанартами, особенно по Dragon Age, и сейчас, перед выходом новой части шебуршение в рядах фанатов, видимо возросло. так что за неделю устойчиво набегает кучка фавов артов по этой игре. :Р
благостно, что я сама большой любитель посмотреть чужие фанарты или свои наковырять, так что мне раздолье. но могу точно сказать, что соотношение тех же фавов и комментариев "левый арт - фанарт" даже не 1:2, а много больше.
еще заметила в последнее время адовую популярность по фильмам/мультам. от Эльзы меня уже даже мутило, не могла на нее нормально в самом мульте смотреть. XDDD сейчас вот стабильно в ленте идут арты по Малефисенте.
О, точно! Дракончики же!
