Resident evil CGI movie

WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WORLD OF THE GLASS JAW!
So resident evil degeneration came in through the good old Netflix today. Just in time for my lunch break so I popped it in made a sandwich and...it sucked. That is all.
Ok, ok I'll elaborate, watching the opening of the movie at first had me pumped for the good old-fashioned RE set up of zombie violence and corny dialogue. That was until I realized the controller in my hand only had the power of fast forwarding, pausing, stopping etc. etc. and at no point was I going to be actually playing the game. Which is exactly what it felt like, though the CGI animation and production was top-notch quality it never went above a video game cinematic quality.
But even if it was along the lines of Beowulf it still would have been pretty unwatchable due to the fact that the corny dialogue always maintained a charming feel and was totally acceptable in the games. Doesn't exactly stand as well on its own. It was cool to see Leon and Claire back together and the occasional flashback to resident evil two (my favorite resident evils out of all of them until four) but Jesus Christ if it wasn't altogether stupid.
I especially enjoyed how the English dialogue didn't exactly lip sync properly in good old Capcom fashion. Hell, the fact that it was a Capcom movie should have been enough. A brilliant game production company that will appear to never evolve their story building aspect of games. It's as if they purposely maintained that feel of Japanese awfulness.
And I believe that says it all right there, for on the surface it looks like there was really no reason for this movie to even be made except for the fact it was guaranteed to make a decent buck. They already have the facilities to make a pretty 2 hour cinematic. Why not just slap a movie title on it and save the legions of programmers the work of building an actual video game into it. You would only have to hear the nerdy roar of the crowd at last year's E3 when they premiered the trailer to know that much.

At least it's not the live action pieces of shit that we vomited up.
If there's one thing I go America FUCK YA! about it's that we know how to make action movies.
They should've just based them on the games.
I'm pumped to see Leon again. But yeah... it'd probably make a killer game, but movie? I gotta give them props for their balls, but thats about it.
This movie is the best Resident Evil movie out there.
The live action Resident Evil movies suck balls.
What I liked about it:
-They actually used Resident Evil characters
-They mention about WilPharma, the company that you fight against in RE5
-They got the original voice actor for Claire Redfield from RE2 and RE Veronica and Leon from RE2 and RE4, as well as a brief appearance by Harttigan
And for once, since it's been a while...
-There are ZOMBIES. Remember when Resident Evil was about ZOMBIES, and not "Las Plagus" or whatever? Remember when it was about Umbrella and the G-virus/T-Virus? I do.
and as far as cheesy dialouge, hey, look at the original PSX game. There's worse. But despite the voice acting, it still had good gameplay, great graphics at the time, and was the main ignition for the "Survival Horror" series, as Metal Gear was with the "Stealth" genre.
My final thought is, only Resident Evil fans will appreciate this movie.
All the Resident Evils up till 4 (excluding Gaiden and Gun Survivor) had a SCARY tone.
Resident Evil 4 was just "ACTION! GUNS! KILL!" But it's missing the scary atmosphere it's earlier titles had.
This was the latest thing to come out of RE that actually made me a little bit scared.
And though I agree with everything you said let us not forget the true originators of the survival-horror-partial 3-D-action-game! Alone in the dark, though now a practical laughingstock of a game franchise basically since 1999 it was the total shit back in 1992.
Edward Carnby and his dump truck ass fueled on alcohol and alcohol rage Chris kicking a giant featherless chicken in the face remains in my mind as the greatest videogame moment in history!
Probably a combination of the game coming out way too soon making it an only beloved memory in the minds of PC gamers at the time. But even if they had waited till 1996 I don't think info games would have had the artistic talent that Capcom had, if they did I believe we would be having a completely different conversation. Or maybe not, zombies, backwards ass Japanese interpretation of American life combined it with hilarious bad dialogue and cutting edge videogame affects for its time. Were all of these the recipe for instant success? Definitely something to ponder.
I am a very, VERY big Resident evil fan. I've studied all the games, and even the .5's of the games, to an astounding degree. I've read the wesker reports and everything.
Oh btw, you rock, Boxer.
And about me rocking, it was just a matter of time. ;D
wasw allright, not mind blowing, but will take it anyday over the live action movies..
American cinema is ruining many classics..
They are now trying to even redo Oldboy for god sakes ><
It was made for the fans, and you gotta be a die hard fan to truly appreciate it.
