My top favorite songs (List of 10, links included)
This is a METAL list, sorry if you don't have that kinda taste! But here it is.
Now, these songs are NOT in order, and they are completely random, but these are all songs I recommend listening to:
Number one: O Father O Satan O Sun by Behemoth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM-N4d8NLLo
This song is strong and it just flows with emotion, it makes you want to chant with him, the spoken speech in the middle floating with pure charisma and emotion, spoken with raw words, and crushing sentences making him feel his emotions.
Number two: Vice Campaign (Dave Goes to Hollywood) by The Black Dahlia Murder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P78L7FM-fX0
I feel like this song has an emotion of dread and sadness to it, talking of a man who's lost himself in Vegas, losing his family and friends, slowly killing his life off. Though the writer hasn't experienced it, his words seem to speak truly to you, making you feel like the man who wrote this is maddening. Not only that but it's also melodic and just, symphonic, making you bob your head to the skillfully written riffs, and chorus.
Number three: Second Skin by Dying Fetus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2iiU_Woz-g
Now, this song in my opinion not so much meaningful in many ways, but how brutally fast and this song shows of this band's skill and technicality, the drummer killing his set as the dual vocalists of the bassist and guitarist shredding while they give off head slamming vocals. The fact that this band can drop tempo and make it seem so damn flawless is just... Amazing, from face melting speed to ground breaking dropped tempos and tones. This band is only three members, but they have more skill than other bands who have like seven members. coughslipknotcough
Number four: Black Flame by Nile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVzT1d3QOys
Nile is much like Dying Fetus in the fact that they're fast, and extremely skilled on the instruments that they are using. Pete Hammoura for example is a fucking slaughter on those drums, the fact of how skilled and quick they are to make you want to get up and just start throwing horns is a good reason on why they're so damn good, I dunno, I can't explain them. They're just brutal.
Number five: Blacken the Cursed Sun by Lamb of God https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igQbut0rEXY
I wasn't much of a fan of Sacrament by LoG, but god damn did this song stand out for me, as soon as I heard that intro, there was no way I could skip it. Everything about this song was just killer, the drums were damn perfect, the rolls on it just blended with the bass and guitar so perfect. Randy Blythe's vocals were so strong and fierce that you can't help but shout the chorus, everything about it just folds together into a AAA song.
Number six: I Am of Death (Hell Has Arrived) by Skeletonwitch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPPPGMGNg8I
I have never heard about Skeletonwitch much, but ever since I saw they were on the roster of the concert I was going to see that had the headlining band of The Black Dahlia Murder, I knew I had to check them out, and I was not disappointed, this was the first song I listened to by them, and then I had to relisten to it... A good 50 times. The blaringly fast pace which molds into the melodic chorus, almost even turns jazzy, making you want to get up and groove just after headbanging your brain to mush. A must listen, absolutely.
Number seven: Metal Metal Land by GWAR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4jUWIWyUNs
Now, GWAR will always be a sweet spot for me, they may only be EXTREMELY good live, due to the theatricals that they havem but fuck this song gets me moving. It's so catchy you can't deny it. Oderus with his defining vocals you know who's singing when you hear him, this scumdog band never disappoints. RIP Oderus and Flattus
Number eight: Zombies, March! by GWAR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oxtkx8Hjrg
Yes yes, a second GWAR song, I hold them dear, and they do have some wonderful songs. I personally like this song for multiple reasons, Dave Brockie (Oderus)'s vocals are damn spot on in this song, from his typical singing to an almost chorus like singing, not only that the instrumentals do have me up and jamming.
Number nine: Tarnished Gluttony by Job for a Cowboy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75L4OfOTavE
Job for a Cowboy shifted from Deathcore, to Technical Death Metal around the Genesis album, before soon coming over on Ruination. I'm glad they did, they introduced me to death metal, and I'm more than glad. I was super into them, but the interest faded sadly, but I keep them close to me, yes. They are a very political band, they don't talk about murder, nor satanic rituals. But they talk about corrupt U.S. officials, and the corrupt government of the United States of America, and this song talks about the fading worth of the US dollar, and society proceeds to turn to their blind side about it. This song is slow, and heavy, but melodic all the same.
Number ten: Deathmask Divine by The Black Dahlia Murder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QVghYGB5Ms
This song's lyrics portray a true story about a doctor who fell in love with his patient, who soon died. The doctor was so heartbroken, he dug up her corpse, and performed a taxidermy on her, to keep her with him forever, but he was soon caught, and charged. I enjoy almost every song of the album Nocturnal by TBDM, but this is my favorite, Trever Strnad's vocals just rocking me to the edge of my seat, and the instruments making me fall on my ass. This song is truly special, and one to always keep in your music library.
This concludes my top ten music list, thanks for taking a peek, even if you don't like metal!
