Ecig users/vapers. Looking to upgrade maybe you can help me
11 years ago
So basically I was a dinosaur, i had an old 510 used for the longest time. Got me off 2 packs a day for 15 years of cigarettes. Best decision i ever made.
I always just direct dripped and it was finnicky as hell but it did the job, gave me a decent throat hit with not great vapor, but throat his is key. Finally decided to upgrade and just got an ego EVOD mod which was awesome at first but man, the performance has gone to shit on it in only a week.
Throat hit is VERY important to me, i can't stand ecigs unless i get that. At first i'd get two hours of great throat hit on a fresh battery (only have one atm) now i get like literally 5 minutes before the vapor output and throat hit just go to shit. In less than 2 weeks i've replaced the coil 3 times but i think hte battery is the issue. If this is an indicator of what to expect just maintaining this setup, fuck just buying more ego batteries.
So i'm thinking what to do about an upgrade and have to deal with the least amount of finnickyness and get the most consistent strong throat hit possible with the 18mg 80% pg solution i get super cheap and like.
Looking at my options i can upgrade to something that is a next step up but for another 10 bucks theres something that might be much better.
Basically i've determined that i probably need a variable wattage device, the innokin VV battery looks awesome but i've really got my eye on the iTaste mvp 2.
Maybe people with similar needs to mine can recommend a good setup that is cheap and does what i'm looking to do, i'm happy to just use my EVOD tank, when my battery is performing well the throat hit is awesome for what i like.
All i want is a setup that's not expensive (sub 60 bucks), gives an awesome throat hit and does it consistently, not enormous (would rather not have a one pound hunk of steel in my back pocket), not finicky, and probably variable wattage which i think is necessary to get the consistency i want and ideally a pass through as i'm at my computer desk drawing all the time.
If you can recommend anything and any place to get it from cheaply that won't give me a shitty knockoff i would appreciate it. I'm sure theres a ton of options i'm not aware of and i want to spend as little as possible.

As for the batteries I've been pretty happy with a simple battery set from tsunami, they have a lifetime warranty.
I'm finding mvp2's for 40 bucks online. So far i'm thinking that's my best bet, just throw my evod on it.
101vape is where i got it from, if you're looking at a new battery you can spend just a few bucks more and get an amazing setup.
In my opinion stay away from tank tips. They tend to be the most fiddly things I've messed with. There are some large chamber tips that have a lot of room to work with, and hold fluid in a shallow basin or a couple wells. Certain coil/wicking configs will knock you on your ass and have you belching cumulus clouds.
Iirc, mechanicals are just simple circuits with no adjustable anything, i've determined that i really need something with variable wattage settings to get the consistency i need.
I actually dig the simple evod tank on mine and i'm seeing itaste mvp's that come with an iclear 30 for only 40 bucks. So far this seems to be the best bet.
What are these chamber tips your'e talking about? I frankly am not sure what that is. Seems like most of the clearomizers all use some sort of wicking system and i already got the evod so i figure as long as i got power to keep giving me good hot vapor, i'm probably fine with it. spending 4 bucks a month to replace coils isn't a big deal to me.
I haven't had a lot of experience with this sort of thing, but I hope you find what your looking for. ^_^
But yeah the MVP is hard to beat for what you are looking at. I would love to have one along side my mech mod.
To me not having variable wattage settings and such just seems like it's taking features away for that price catagory over some of the telescoping VW mods. Also why the hell are mechanical mods so fricking expensive? It's just a tube with battery contacts basically but they seem to run like 200 fucking dollars?
Maybe you can enlighten me as to what the allure of them are. From browsing forums people just seem to like them almost as like a philosophy where they're arguing whether something is a "true" mechanical mod or not and saying what their personal definition of a mechanical mod is etc. THey almost seem to like them just because they like fucking with them.
I actually like dripping and wonder if theres a good drip setup for something like the MVP. My 510 i exclusively drip in and i get a better throat hit from that than from my ego build 90% of hte time now.
Also the big ass drip heads for mech mods you rebuild coils in, what are those called?
Oh no... mechs can and often do fail more often than regulated mods or other battery types. Well, I should correct that... technically, they don't fail... they cause a venting of the battery if you over-use them or accidentally fire them for too long.
Granted, you usually have to fire them for a long while but since they're unregulated, there's no protections built in to prevent it (that's why every mech I've looked into has had locking mechanisms to prevent the button from accidentally firing.)
It is a hobby. To make the best coil, the best set up, and even what to use as wicks. Now the mech mods I buy are clones. $50 to $80 is what I would only buy. Some of the mods are hand made and styled by one person. They are very pricey, but I only buy clones of everything. Some clones suck, but at the store I go to they have the good clones and some of the real deals.
I like it because it is fun to do. That is really it. I don't care about the high end mods or the guys that get into arguments about them. Online pissing contest is what you see in the mod forums, haha. I just hang out with mod vapers at the store or meet-ups and have fun.
That big dripper is called a RBA dip or rebuildable atomizer drip tank. I am using a cheap Patriot RDA clone. I love it. Here are some pics of mine.

I've noticed that with kanger atomizers you really only get about a week's worth of use out of them before they start to under-perform and should be replaced. If you have some kanthal wire and cotton, recoiling an evod atomizer is actually pretty easy (but if you do go the recoiling route and you don't have a resistance checking device of some kind, it's probably a good idea to invest in one.)
The newer dual-coil kanger atomizer heads are a bitch to recoil though... Which I suspect was a deliberate thing on Kanger's part. And if you're a massive fan of dripping (taste, vapour, etc) but not of the fact you have to constantly re-juice them you could invest in an RBA/Tank style like the Kayfun, Russian or the 3D.
I'm really trying to spend as little as possible atm, i'll probably invest in a nautilus tank for my tank upgrade in the future, people seem to be apeshit over that.
Again, my main thing with ecigs is i'm a drug addict, that drug is nicotine. I just want to be able to get my fix as reliably with as little fuss as possible for relatively cheap. I was just looked into rebuilding evod dual coils and yeah, i don't think that's something i want to deal with. Thanks though. Probably one of these days i'll get those huge drip chambers for the big ass coils you build yourself and then i'll start building my own but for now, i just want a simple tank that's getting some good power. If my coils start underperforming i'll crank up the wattage till it burns out, then just replace it.
I know that it's tricky but having a VV definitely helps (I've got eGo-Twist batteries.) Finding the sweet-spot can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
that said, if you want more throat-hit, if you're running the usual 50/50 mix maybe try something with more pg than vg.
As for my fluid, i use 80% pg 18mg. The juice isn't the issue, i've been using this stuff for like a year now. I got a feeling the coils i've put aside will probably work well with a better battery.
I personally own only a Kamry K101+ with an IGO-W RDA running at .42 ohms. Lots of vapor, but I'm also using 0mg nicotine, so I can go through an entire vial of fluid in a day if I really wanted too.
But for Variable Voltage, I'd only Recommend the MVP or an EGO-C Twist for a budget. However, if you want to spend a LOT of money on an extremely nice VV, you can get a Joyetech eVic for about $120, or for a more expensive route, a Provari that will run you about $200. The original MVP is my fave VV for a budget. The eVic does most of the same stuff as the ProVari, like automatically checking the resistance and helping you stay within acceptable range of voltages or wattages, depending on what you like to use.
I've heard no matter what you do with 0mg nicotine you get no throat hit. I actually worked my way down from 32mg to 18 and am considering a drop down to 12 soon. I want something that will give me a godo throat hit cuz my eventual goal is quitting nicotine forever.
I still just can't fathom why mech mods are so damn expensive, it's the most simple device imaginable. You'de think somebody would make a bare bones mech mod and sell it for like 30 bucks and just corner the market.
The only downside to a Mech Mod is you need the batteries, charger (get Nitecore Intellicharger, or you're going to ruin your batteries), and an Ohms reader. If you go too low on the Ohms and your battery isn't rated for it, your Mech mod can turn into a mini pipe-bomb. AW IMR 18650 can go to .40, EFEST RED 18650 I wouldn't go lower than .60, Sony 30AMP can go to .25, and EFEST Purple 35AMP can go to .13. Those are the most popular types of batteries. Have your local vape store (or the nearest one) teach you how to build if they can.
Not trying to make you switch, just sharing all the information I can so that you can decide what YOU want.
As for an online store, this is your best bet for anything vape related: http://www.beyondvape.com/ . They have a store in my town and are based out of California, so the products are safe and there are no knock-offs (It's actually called "Clones". Hence why it says NO CLONES on the store page). I can vouch for most of the flavors there on how good they are (I've tried almost all of them). They also carry the MVP. They have so many flavors it's insane.
Hell, I could get you a 10% discount at the very least in-store then ship you stuff. But that's up to you. Hope ya find something good!
I am interested in mech mods. What's with going sub ohm on coils? I don't really get that but i don't know much about electricity and how it works. I know the HIGHER ohms, the more voltage is needed to get them hot enough.
With these drip mech mods do they just get super low ohm coils and dump a shit load of voltage through them to get them insanely hot? is that the purpose?

No s at the end
the best thing about it is that each drag i take has such a satisfying throat hit i find i don't use the thing even half as much. Before i was just constantly sucking on it trying to get that good throat hit, fiddling with it, cleaning and rotating atomizers and heating coils. This is what i was looking for. Just a simple setup that works, gives me what i need and doesn't require a fuss.
Ecigs keep me off real cigs and I actually prefer them to real cigs but I gotta have that throat hit. Seems like most people I meet don't like it which was a surprise to me.
Speaking of, my MVP2 arrives tomorrow. Quite excited.
I keep seeing those around, but I'm not a big fan of the shape. Sure they work great, though.
Do they have a wick? I seem to keep burning the wick in my eGo-t. Aside from that, I like it.
And the MVP is just a big battery, you can put whatever tank on it you want. I had an evod1 on it which has a wick and i currently have an iclear30 on it now which came with my mvp and it has like 16 wicks on it and it works fantastic.
Seriously, I love the evod and they're super cheap, look into getting an evod glass, they're like 15 bucks, just make sure to get some spare coil heads along with it.
So far i couldn't be happier with my iclear30 which is a VERY inexpensive tank.
