There is some sort of weird design war going on. It's like, if one person has a certain character with certain colors and is a certain animal, automatically anyone who makes a similar character with similar colors and with a similar animal is copying them.
Does anyone else find this just weird and childish?
I don't think that anyone should have the right to copyright a character unless it's necessary (like in the case of Telephone), and then if someone creates a character that is similar to yours? Tough luck. Shit happens. Guess you just have to deal with it like a mature human being.
I'm also similarly done with "omg it's a dragon character and has brown in it it's Telephone and I'm going to tell everyone that you're an art thief".
People need to learn to chill out. I know that your characters mean a lot to you, but there are only so many designs out there. And if you have a simple design, some people are going to come up with it just like you did, and they may not even know you exist. It doesn't mean they're copying you, it's called a coincidence.
Not that I'm saying it's always a coincidence, but half the time it is, and you really don't need to go over the deep end because of it either way.
The mature thing to do is let the person know that it looks like your character and ask them if they would mind changing the design so it looks less similar. Is that so hard to do? And if they say they would prefer not to, you swallow your childish need to start petty fights and say, "Okay, after all, my character isn't copyrighted and thus I have no control over what you do." Don't blog about it so that everybody gangs up on someone who was just trying to design an OC.

If someone is using your actual character without your consent and you notice that it IS yours (design is the exact same, they use the name, etc etc) then I think you have the right to send them a note and ask what's up.
Otherwise, untwist thy panties, good cranks /*-*/ Not that awful.
I'm glad I do too. Otherwise, I would be concerned with my mental health
I would do the same for my characters if I saw someone with the same kind of design (even though I don't draw), and I would hope they would try to be polite about it too.
We might be furries but we are all people here. People make mistakes and are careless/clueless, and not everyone needs to do what you want /'-'/ Just suck it up and talk.
You can't copyright an animal with a natural (or close to natural) color palette

the age of the ctr can vary and even then I find many same age and look me and another joked about the fact we looked same on another thread giggles
telephone = dragon+angel =/= deer+dragon = Jensen
and telephone's totally cool with him, even drew him art of Jensen and Telephone
(I mean....because that's totally not common or anything...)
