So work hours are dwindling again...and I am barely making any money so time to look for a new job again...I hate retail with a passion!!!
Moving on...After these commissions are up, I will finally sit down and make a ref sheet for my ever patient husband, who hasn't had one at all. He has changed a few things recently so I have to update that so if I get art of us, it will be correct. With that being said, my prime focus will be these commissions. I know the wait time is crazy but I am trying, bare with me guys! I am not going to any conventions or anything big til September so I have time between very small work hours, and job hunting. After that I may open up for a few free headshots, what do you guys think? I may to sketchy busts with some marker work if I am able, though shading is not something I am very good at yet and I have been told that I need a better paper quality so I will work on that. I think it would be fun to do a few busts maybe on one page and offer that as freebies. I notice some artists doing that on here, and on their twitter so maybe I can do that. We will see what time permits. I also need to work my my fursuit head some more. I have learned quite a bit so I know how to do some things, but I tried to fur her....and well I need to rip it off and re-pattern XD I learned quite a bit from that little mishap!

Not sure when I will be streaming again as my schedule is kinda crazy this next week. I will of course being keeping you guys updated so that as soon as I can stream again, and update I will!

Sorry the job situation isn't so great right now; I hope you find a new one fast!

Also, if you need any tips and pointers on markers, lemme know. Prismacolor markers are my medium of choice, and I've worked with them for 15 years now, and I'm making the switch to Copics as we speak. Any questions on shading, blending, paper choice, anything, lemme know! :3

Was never really a fan of prismacolor....though these copics are so much awesome!
Shading and blending yes I need help, i want to be able to do badges and pretty arts! Paper is a big issue, if you can see the stuff in my gallery...I think my paper is to porous? The markers get kinda splotchy on the paper so I think that is the problem?

Prismas are great for beginners because they're cheap and, honestly, the same as Copics if you get the new brush tips. I made the switch because, sadly, certain Prismas have been found to seriously bleed over time, completely ruining art down the road, especially in humid climates. So, even if you did like Prismas, it was the smarter choice to buy Copics since you do commissions. Nothing like a paying customer coming back a year later to tell you their art is totally ruined.

Yes, the splotchiness I can see is most likely that your paper is too light, typically sketch paper. You'll probably hear some folks tell you to use bristol or cardstock-type papers, and this is a huge no no unless you want to replace your markers after every drawing you do. While lighter weights have issues with splotchiness and bleeding, heavier papers like bristol and cardstock suck your markers dry because it requires more ink to saturate the area. I've been religiously using paper within the 70-80 lb category with a smooth surface. If you have a Michaels nearby, they sell a sketchpad for about $2.50 each for 50 sheets; it's the paper I've been using for about two years now because I find it to be juuust right. The brand is Canson, and it's their drawing paper; has kind of a gold yellow cover.

It may look different in other stores or online; so long as it's Canson brand 9x12 Drawing (not Sketch!) paper with a 70 lb (114 g) weight with a medium tooth surface, it's probably the same thing.

Oh, and I accidentally lied. It's 30 sheets, not 50.
