Cartoon of the Week -- The Ostrich

The only copy of this David Hand cartoon on YouTube was part of a Wubbcast episode. If you'd rather skip Wubbzy's bad flash animation, the actual "Ostrich" cartoon starts at 1:20 in the video:

(And I shouldn't complain too loudly - here's an ostrich cartoon that DOESN'T involve them eating bizarre things. In a way, that by itself is playing against type!)
It's a well-kept secret that I modeled my pony OC, the Dark Griffon, as a sort of cross between Nathan and Stanley.
Well, he also wasn't stupid, and he realized that if he ran into the gang of eagle toughs on the lone, he would have ended up dinner. Stanley, for all his foibles, did bring the cavalry to save him.
He may want to be a lone wolf, but traveling companions do make the road go by quicker. (And safer!)
And yet I kept thinking The Hair Bear Bunch. It was just easy not to deal with animating motorcycles from different angles!
Ohgod, I completely forgot about the Hair Bear Bunch, and I should have remembered, especially since Wolfman friggin' Jack was the Alpha Eagle. Yeah, animating a bunch of motorcycles would have been a PITA, but also on point, it let the eagles take to the wing at will, which made them far more dangerous adversaries whey they got down to it.
And yet I often wonder if Stanley ever asks Nathan just what his favorite food happened to be? The Japanese "One Stormy Night" kinda ruined me with that one since it was just too good not to pass up!
Heh. If I were Nathan I'd probably have answered, "It used to be duck soup, until the bloody eagles put ME in it, so I'm looking for a new one." ^.^
