Need more advice...

So, um.. I have a situation.
I finished the commission I said I wouldn't finish in my last journal, surprise surprise, and while my client liked it... I didn't initially make them pay up-front because I didn't know if I would even be able to finish it. I'd already kind of assumed it might be a flop, but since it wasn't, I of course wanted payment after completion.
So I noted the person, told them what to send, and asked if they'd inform me when they sent it. Three days went by and heard nothing from Paypal or my commissioner. I note them again and ask if they had a date of which they thought they might send payment... only to get back, "I already sent it." Meanwhile, here I am with nothing.
Either my client is lying, said they sent money and didn't and just want to rip me off... or they mis-typed the email address when sending it to me... or something to that effect, I suppose. They simply haven't looked at my response note, and it's been another two days.... So um..
How do you guys deal with a shitty client who either won't pay or won't fix a problem with payment? I already know now to be paid upfront no matter what the case, so you don't have to advise me to do that. I already plan on it. -_- But if you have, y'know, any advice for getting this sort of thing taken care of... please share. ;A;

If the title of the note is in bold it means they have yet to open it.
Just thought that might show if they have even been online.
