I just have to point out this fact.
I just finished watching The Last Airbender again. It is still a truly an amazing and a fantastically good movie!
I am glad M. Night Shyamalan made it. Look at what he said about the cartoon and why he made the movie.
According to an interview with the co-creators in SFX magazine, Shyamalan came across Avatar when his daughter wanted to be Katara for Halloween. Intrigued, Shyamalan researched and watched the series with his family. "Watching Avatar has become a family event in my house ... so we are looking forward to how the story develops in season three," said Shyamalan. "Once I saw the amazing world that Mike and Bryan created, I knew it would make a great feature film." He added he was attracted to the spiritual and martial arts influences on the show.
Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko voiced their opinion within an interview regarding M. Night Shyamalan writing, directing and producing the film. The two displayed much enthusiasm over Shyamalan's decision for the adaptation, stating that they admire his work and, in turn, he respects their material.[16] Producer Frank Marshall explained that they have high hopes to stick to a PG rating. "I'm not even sure we want to get in the PG-13 realm. Furthermore, Shyamalan said, "A lot of the inspiration for the direction we took comes from a friend of mine. A Nathan Blackmer helped shape this Idea into the film it became. I took away a little bit of the slapsticky stuff that was there for the little little kids, the fart jokes and things like that...We grounded Katara's brother...and that really did wonderful things for the whole theme of the movie." Paramount's president Brad Grey said that despite the director's career being inconsistent, he "believed in Shyamalan's vision and that he could execute it," adding that "It's a bold step because he had to create a potential new family franchise." The studio was willing to spend $250 million in a trilogy of films, one for each season. The Last Airbender's budget wound up being $150 million, with later over $130 million being spent on marketing costs, making it Shyamalan's most expensive film.
With this being said, I am very glad they toned down the identity of Sokka.
Sokka in the cartoon was a complete idiot and to see him acing the same way in live action would have put him on par with Jar Jar Binx- Yeah, remember he was?
But in the live action film.....
Jackson Rathbone as Sokka, a fifteen-year-old warrior from the Southern Water Tribe and Katara's older brother. He can be condescending, and has no waterbending abilities. He often takes up leadership roles by virtue of coming up with most of the workable plans and tactics.
...... Which Sokka would you rather see?
But yes, I love The Last Airbender. I have the complete series legally owned on DVD, no pirated copies, and I have the first season of The Legend Of Kora.
And for everyone else that is an Avatar drama queen..... let the Avatar wars begin :D
Dunn..Dunn.Dunnnnnnnnn "FINISH HIM!"

FA+

And the end scene when Aang is bending the ocean water.... THat was amazing! And now the water nation and some of the fire nation want him to be thier Avatar! That's one hell of a build up from the next movies coming out :D
The Last Airbender, will always remain one of the worst movies ever created, easily deserving it's critically abysmal RottenTomatoes rating. It was a bombshell of a movie led by a director with no excuse for such dismal work, and was an injustice to racially diverse peoples, fans, and the creators themselves. M. Night destroyed all chances of creating a successful Paramount trilogy based on the beloved television series that brought ethnically diverse characters with real-world historical counterparts to American homes.

The Sokka portrayed in the series had a lengthy maturation and growth experience, that had audiences view him in different lights, experience tragedies and comedies, and ultimately saw him become a leader and strong-hearted role model with his own uniqueness.
The Sokka I remember in the movie, was a serious, wildly incompetent character.
House Of The Dead
Conan The Barbarian (2010)
Dragonball
Are just an examples.
A good movie that came out that is an adaptation of the cartoon, but has literally nothing the same as the cartoon, Transformers. None of the characters in Transfprmers are the same. None of the live action characters exist in the cartoon. Megatron is nothing like the original Megatron. Optimus Prime does not look like Optimus Prime. But..... people like it anyway. It has nothing to do with the chartoon, not even how the arrived on Earth. But people like it anyway. Why are people so easy to decide to like a movie that has nothing to do with the cartoon and has more years in family history, than Avatar The Last Airbender yet Transformers is a success? How can The Last Airbender talk about the race issue when the Firenation are all Asians? I think the ideas, the plot, the way it was left to lead into a part 2, and the fights, effects, everything was superb.
I have to ask though, why did you participate in a movement to not have that movie made? I would be glad to even have a live action movie made, even if it is the only one made so far, just to see a live action version. Wouldn't you be happy that someone at least tried to make the movie of The Last Airbender?
Also I agree with you I did like the more mature Sokka. Goofy Sokka works for the series in that theres time to allow his character develop and grow over multiple episodes. Unlike a movie where you have what 90-120 running mins. Also I'd say fans are upset with mature Sokka cuz its suppose to be Katara thats suppose to fulfill that parenting role. Shes the one thats the mother figure in the series and in the movie I feel shes kinda just a whining girl who happens to be a bender.
All this said I now just wanna go watch the movie again and marathon the cartoon. lol
I appreciate your comment. I am not trying to force people to like the movie. It sounds like people are trying other people to not like the movie. And that does not make sense to me. I have seen some wretched horrible movie that are still very enjoyable. Even watch Mutant Assault Girls? Or Frankenstein Girl vs Vampire Girl?
Those are some raunchy movies but are still fantastic by the ideas that are in there.
If you have not seen 'Mutant Assault Girls' or 'Frankenstein Girl vs Vampire Girl' I hugely recommend getting it on blu ray, make some popcorn, buy some sodas and invite a lot of your friends. Because those are movies you will never forgot
But that's only because it took it's time and set the events up
in slowly. The movie felt extremely rushed, they tried to cram
all of book one into like 90 minutes.
Honestly, the whole series should have been produced the
way Star Wars was, spread the series out over a like 6
segments, 2 segments per book, and then the whole thing
would have been epic!
