Well, tomorrow we will bear witness to a event
of truly historic import. The inauguration of
a black man to the highest office of the land.
President of these united states.

One hundred and forty five years from the
year that president Lincoln issued the emancipation
proclamation, finally some of the promise
that America has made to the world that
no matter who you are or what your parentage,
if you are willing to work for it, there is nothing
that you can’t achieve. Even the unlikely goal
of becoming president.

It has only been forty years since Stonewall, so
I guess that means it will be another one hundred
and five years before we see an openly gay
president and god knows how long until we see
a president of the furred persuasion.

I for one would love to see "The First Alpha"
marking his territory in the oval office and the
"first bitch" regurgitating food for her pups in
the Lincoln bedroom. Perhaps then our civilization
would change it's self-destructive course and
start taking the needs of other species and
that of our fragile world into consideration.

I guess though, I’ll have to be satisfied with the
inauguration of Barak Hussein Obama. Baby
steps before we can walk, or run.

Unless there is reincarnation, I guess I won’t
be alive to see any these other wonders so
I guess the fact of Mr. Obama’s presidency
will have to be wonder enough.
