Warning: do not be in the process of drinkin' anything while viewin' these cartoons!... an why some of these have not become animated GIF icons fer some'a us here on FA I will never know... enjoy! LOL
Also Rock'y modern life (also meant for MTV) had sexual jokes (as shown), gay/lesbian characters, and basically things that would make parents scream today if shown during afternoon hours. we didn't create them, the creator did to slam the FCC.
...was on Nick, not MTV.
What sort of stuff did the show get away with?
basically it has a 90s felling with it
Rocko's modern life is a really good water mark to see the change when cartoons started to be a little more regulated. The restaurant was changed from Chokey Chicken to Chewy Chicken in its 4th and final season, the more in your face sexual innuendos were toned down.
Ren an Stimpy was shown in its true form back in like 2004 or something on Spike TV, where they were allowed to just go ahead with all the more raunchy shit they had to cut out for NICK.
If anything Invader ZIM was the last show to really get away with more dark side of stuff, but after the producers of a lot of the other shows that were very popular at the time, ganged up on the Nick executives about how disturbing Zim was to audiences that were watching things like Spongbob (even though, there are a few more adult jokes in that show too) they got the show canned.
I have a theory about TV shows turning people furry. Personally, I think they just plant the seeds, and people just, go from there pretty much.
