This may be annoying, but you can't really tell people how much privacy they should give up. Besides, what does it matter?

The two things that I can think of are that they are trolls trying to hide how new their account is or they are trying to hide from google and other search engines. The thing though is that I think FA has an anti web crawler tag in the HTML that prevents google from finding info on this site.

I'd guess that they disable their pages so that people can't contact them as easily. It's rather alienating, but I guess that's the desired effect.

I guess it's boiling down to that.
People want to be able to use the site, but do not wish to be contacted.

In a part I can understand that as I got a lot of hatemail, typically completely unreferenced or , even more funny, exactly for what others wrote upon my comments, the hate-mail-producer actualyl taking exactly the standpoint I had presented.

Typically these people obviously do not wish to be contacted. But also for people having been harrassed in the past I can understand that they but a heavy lockbar into place not to be contacted at all, to avoid any type of bullying and trolling.

So maybe a number of those that show this behaviour have actually very, very sad but good reasons.

I have a buddy that disabled their page because they were being harassed and the admins spent their whole time with their thumbs up their bums.

Edit the URL. Change the /user/ into /gallery/ and you'll be able to get into just about everything but the profile page.

Haha, you can do a TON if you mess with the URL...at least if you know the proper names of the links and such.

HECK, if you somehow remember the post number and file name of a deleted file, you can still view it on the download page...because the file itself doesn't get deleted, just the link to the page viewer does...

The disabled shower in the marina has recently been perma locked so I can't use it anymore...

I don't like these new "features", especially as they interfere interacting with watchers. In fact, it makes less sense to me than people who hate you for thanking them! I mean, who the fuck is that antisocial? You do something worth gratitude, you're going to get thanked! The best thing is to reply after the fact with a message like "no problem", or "no need to thank me", but don't outright say "NEVER THANK ME", it just makes you appear rude!
