Patreon and webcomics
Hi!
I've been thinking about two different things and wanted to see what people thought (my FA audience is the most feedback so far).
Everyone always says to do a webcomic and I've actually been thinking of one - it's basically a roleplaying game I'm unlikely to run, which'd have monsters and old tech, not a furry thing. I'm not entirely sure where to post it and have been thinking of just making a Tumblr which is nothing but the comic. Any thoughts?
Everyone always says to run a Patreon (unless they're saying no, don't, that's terrible) and I kinda would like that. But I'm not quite sure what I'd like to offer as a Patreon thing. I'd been vaguely thinking of basically compiling a Monster Manual of sorts, and I'm not sure if that'd be good or what I might want to do to "sweeten the pot." Y'all are smart and like my artwork, would you have any ideas?

Monsters and old tech sounds like a wonderful combination (how old are we talking, here?) but most of all I'd like to see some of your own unique creatures and settings. I love the way you interpret Dungeons and Dragons material, but I also really love the idea of seeing what sorts of things you conceptualize from whole cloth.
So I blog about kickstarters and Patreons and such, and will cheerfully promote you, Whines and I have been following you since Livejournal was a thing.
You're not really obligated to do anything extra for Patreon--particularly if you're doing a webcomic that engages an audience, people will chip in at $1s and $5s over time. Ideally, Patreon is about getting out of the commission game and being funded for doing what you love, if you have an audience that loves what you do.
Although it might be hard to get people to chip in at higher than $1s and $5s without some sort of reward. You might consider a quarterly--uh--what do you call them, the baseball card sized pictures for certain categories of donor--something that's not a HUGE investment for you.
Otherwise, consider things that cast a wide net of participation, but minimize the work you do for it--like a "crowdsourced" monthly picture from your $5-$10 backer pool forum. Only one image that touches several people, or your character here quarterlies. Or a yearly picture at a higher level, after six months of contributions.
Be careful of not just creating another form of commission stress.
