way too expensive foxeh... first it has to be shipped to the us, then sony will replace the lens and then it returns to me... with a fat bill!

So it doesnt read the disks ? you can get the drive for about 40 bucks its fairly easy to replace with a bit of time and a set of screwdrivers - there are guides on the net.

This is why I recomended swaping out the drive as a whole instead of the Laser-assembly - which would be a lot cheaper.

.. but a lot harder. My 11 yo cousin did it with a bit of guidance of mine successfully swapped out the drive of his 1st gen fat PS3.
