Hey hey everyone!
So, I'm taking another shot at drawing, and I'm focusing on digital because... well, just because. So, for those of you who draw digitally, I need some hardware and software recommendations. I've got a Surface RT that I intend to use primarily, and I'm thoroughly an amateur, so I'm not looking to drop hundreds on a fancy drawing tablet. Honestly, I just want something better than a mouse! Additionally, I'm using MS Paint... And It's not the best, but it works, I guess? Eh, stuff.

I use a monoprice tablet, for something so cheap it works very well. I don't really know what software goes on apple products though, I use paint tool sai for the most part and do any other editing in GIMP.

Wow, those prices are fantastic! I'll have to look into that. Definitely one of the best options on the table so far.

Oh, and it's for the Windows Surface! It runs the windows RT OS. It's basically standard windows 8 that's been handcuffed and stuffed into an ARM architecture. It does have MS paint, but as far as I know, program choices are exceedingly limited given that it can't run any standard windows programs that you'd download off of the internet. So, in a way, it's more handicapped than the Mac.

Ah, that makes sense.

What I would do is get adobe illustrator, it's great for outlines and basic colouring and it is possible to use a mouse without it looking terrible.

I actually ended up getting SketchBook. It's lacking a few features that would be helpful, but otherwise it's fantastic.
