What possesses people to be shitheads to others?

Lately it's been pretty obvious that FA seems to be letting most anyone on the website get an ad for the website provided they have legitimate content they're trying to sell or what have you. Now it's more than the same four con ads rolling at random, and you get a bunch of smaller artists getting ads. This is wonderful. Kudos.
So then what exactly is it that would make a person see an ad for something they don't like, and don't want, and immediately run to their page and tell them how much of a piece of shit they are for making it. Like, no one required you to click the ad in the first place, that's stupid. The artist paid for the adspace in hopes that someone (iirc not you) will want to pay for their art. That's their right and clearly you need to deal with that fact.
I just don't get why someone would feel obligated to do that. Telling someone off for PAYING FOR AN AD to SELL A PRODUCT that YOU DON'T WANT AND DON'T HAVE TO BUY is like this:
Imagine being in line at the grocery store. You like Pace salsa. You buy Pace salsa. It's sitting on the conveyor of the checkout machine. Someone comes up behind you and starts to wait in line behind you, but then sees that you have Pace salsa on the checkout stand. Pace salsa is pretty cheap and tastes very generic but it's what you like. The guy behind you turns up his nose and goes "Pace? AW HELL NO." And proceeds to leave the checkout line and check out on the other side of the store.
People don't do that IRL because it's fucking stupid. It makes no sense. It's disrespectful. It proves nothing. Just like you're not required to like or pay for Pace salsa, you're not required to clickthrough, purchase artwork from, or comment on someone's ad that they paid for themselves. Can't you just leave them alone?
