Furry art book that were supposed to be funded through indiegogo. There were going to be 2 books: clean and adult. I and my fiance were supposed to be in the adult one.

We weren't the project creators. We were just accepted to be artists for it.

Everyone has a voice and I'm sure if you got enough people to sign a petition to get it restarted they would gladly do it. :D

I was t be part of it as well. It sucks to hear about what they had gone through but personally I think they should have continued and disregarded those negative notes/comments. For example the monster anthology. I'm pretty sure they've must of had their fair part of that type of negativity yet they haven't back down. As someone who was approved I can personally say from the start I felt like things weren't really in order with them. The artists didn't receive frequent updates of what went on with the whole group and things went a bit more confusing when they stopped updating us.
idk...I just think a group that backs down that easily is better off left that way. it is pretty pathetic

I feel the same way. After we were accepted for adult book, gave the image for my ID, and all other necessary info, I checked back on their tumblr a lot during the first month. I noticed no updates at all especially after the indiegogo failed for the sfw book. Sent a couple of emails to get answers for some of my questions and they weren't responded to. It just teaks of unprofessionalism to be silent that long and to go down so easily due to negative feedback. I know so many people were rooting for this to be successful.

An artist I follow has been railing against this sort of thing, recently. Content creators unable to do what they want because of the widespread anti-furry sentament perpetuated by assholes who just go "fufag!" at everything. It's really crappy to hear that a project shut down due to it. :(

Not to condone the negative and criminal comments towards folks, but words do not stop people.
No one prevented the content creators or organizers of this book or any others from doing what they wish to.
They chose to kill the project, something only those in charge of it are capable of. No stranger, or even mob of strangers, can actually prevent it from going to press.

There are those who can't handle verbal assaults despite having support from people who do care.

Well first of all, if you signed a contract you might want to sift through it to see if they have a 'cancellation fee' that they have to pay you. Also, if you started on any amount of work I'd also suggest you tell them that you require compensation for that, and basically... Hold them to the same rules that they would hold you to, if you had participated in it. Just because they failed to accrue the funds doesn't mean that they simply don't have to pay you. A contract is legal and binding, both ways.

On another subject, what happens to the funds if an indiegogo fails? Does all that money go back to the donators, or does someone hold onto those funds?

When we signed our contracts, the sfw book was still being funded in indiegogo.( We were artists for the nsfw book) From my understanding, no work was to be done unless the books were fully funded. Artists would be paid from the funds accumulated.

The sfw book first indiegogo failed and they were planning to start a new one but nothing came of it and we were left without any updates for months.

I'm not sure what came of the funds for the sfw book. From what I've read on how it works, they would be able to keep the money even if the funding fails.

I'd definitely look at your contract, though. Look for anything that says that if you were to back out, then you have to pay a fine or something. If it does, then you might be able to reverse it around on them, and have them pay a fine to you. Doubly so if they got to keep whatever money they happened to accrue.
